I had a friend who is very, very staunch in her pro maori stance. She has done great things by getting on with facilitating change.
Years ago, she was angry at a magazine cover of the late Billy T James and Peter Rowley. Rowley was sitting on a chair with Billy T leaning on him. She hit the roof, saying the picture screamed a subliminal message that Maori need to lean on Pakeha to be successful. She was serious.
The rest of us had tears in our eyes from laughing. |

She realised shouting at the wind was futile and the way to enforce change is to plant the seed and nurture it. |

you're right about that. I understand.
In education now, students are learning about the Treaty of Waitangi at primary school. Including the original intention as a peaceful document, and, how later governments abused the english version to confiscate...let's call it what it is...steal maori land. These children coming through now have the answers to their parents questions, which makes for one informed generation. as it continues, the next generation will receive the same info. Over time, that ignorance will hopefully disappear.
I know it's frustrating, but unfortunately it IS going to take that length of time. |

fialemaa the "treaty" means f.all.
It has several versions and in english & maori. Any lawyer brave enough can find holes wide enough to drive a bus through.
It was written to give maori equality but is now a tool to stoke up the out-of-control gravy train.
maori stole from each other so don't come with that sh.yte about land being stolen by the english.
I hope we become a republic and that 'treaty' can be assigned to the rubbish bin where it belongs.because i disagree with you, don't forget to call me a redneck even though it is you that gets special racial advantages, not me.

I am a person who has worked in the area of violation towards women, babies, and children and youth for thirty long years, and am so disgusted at what I have read on this board, and there have been several that I have read in this forum, this one has too be the most vile, abhorrent and bigotted one too date.
The numbers of abused victims of any kind, drugs incest domestic violence and alcohol and youth at risk, pregnant teenagers, you name it I have seen it and worked with it for many years. Very heartbreaking for all of this country and the victims whose lives are never the same. Sad, Sad.
Proudcannabil, are you a man or are you a mouse, you have no mana or integrity at all, there is a tone of women hatred in your words, a sign of not being a well person because you dont like the truth when it hits your face. How insulting too all women in this country, all good men women and children.
