coq adoodle your 1200 mile snipes are awfully pitiful.
Try changing those Auzzie gangsters who are near where your at and see what happens.
Maori gave them whites respect and look where it got them you silly twit.
Ill tell you where it gets them, they get their education diploma/degree etc. They are last to be employed and the first to be redundant. Who gets kept on the bloody whitey thats who. |

arohamai ripeka as long as she has a staunch Maori mum besides her she has no problems but those within.
One can try to forget their Maoritanga but their Maoritanga wont ever forget them and thats the beauty of being Maori. |

Jacq...
And I can't disagree with you here either mate..I absolutely concur that Maori have done well under the 'mainstream' system..Primary, secondary and tertiary!!
However...(and let's try not to further open up old wounds here).....in the not so distant past, Maori were not respected by the system and of course the disrespect was reciprocated...and now perpetrated by successive generations. The system has by and large resisted attempts at being 'Maori user friendly', hence the set up of seperate Maori educational institutions. Nothing anti-Pakeha or 'serperatism' about it, just a place where Maori could be themselves without being castigated.
What we need to do is change attitudes on both sides mate, without it becoming a 'them and us' bun fight.. Starting at the grass roots to say.....
I would love to see more and more Maori enjoying 'mainstream' system too, but we have to prove that is a good place to be...In saying that tho', Maori should still have to work hard to gain an entrance qualification..
Uncle Pita's proposed free bus ticket is NOT the way.... |

kai.... Let me tell you a story it goes like this:
When Capt Abel Tasman discovered Aotearoa [1842] they were scared of the Natives hence the Dutchman named the land and took off. Then along came the whalers, Maori gave them respect by trading with them. Jump a few more years to [1779] capt Cook he renamed the land and reported back to his people. Along came the white spiders in their droves. Maori gave them respect by giving their beautiful wahine and tutangata as mates for the spiders.
Then a new bigger white spider Hobson came along with a Treaty and Maori gave them respect and signed the bloody thing. Since then it was all downhill cause the white spiders didnt show Maori the same respect back.
Why do I use the analogy of white spider? If you watch a spider closely they rarely go in a straight line its tentacles go sideways up and down without letting go of the thread they hold tight to every one. |

sorry eatme if you make an effort to remove the langauge and then the settings you will have a good chance of removing Mauri Ora.The first attempt was to remove the language however it failed. The british failed to militarily defeat Maori and as the campaign was grinding on the other options were brought in.I actually believe the British attempted to turn Maori into Europeans but of course just as I cannot make a pencil a pen it cannot work.
I am often left wondering why, in general, folk pick on the negative aspects of the Maori?I can perhaps understand those living in our large cities to gain impressions, some correct others not, about the Tangata Whenua. For the last 31yrs I have lived in Rural and provincial NZ.My impressions
and experiences have shown me that these people are caring ,sharing and loving and in some cases without asking have helped me more than my fellow pakeha New Zealanders.
So I suppose my views are somewhat tainted with their actions ? |

Perhaps muzz and I seem to recall urban maori having some voice?
But I also think to be fair our real History is being discovered, well in terms of the politics of it all.
Unfortunately many have to live and work in the cities for income but maybe one day the rural growth will impact.Like I has very pleased to see a story on TV of a family moving back to east coast in was on country calendar I think. They farm organic vegetables.Anyway enough from me for today. |

Ripeka,
any one that has any form of contact with you,
will always be a better person because of that, even the threaders who spout the racism daily are now better people having read your posts.
Look at the change they have made already within themselves |
