mikehemsley, i remember that, and i also remember one of the first newspapers to report 'in depth' about what the police really found, was the sunday news. i see the point you are trying to make, but the fact is these 'radicals' have opened their mouths and made specific threats, and i want something done about it.

Eat me,
the average mainstream Maori dont support these fools either.
The Sunday papers are the conspirosy theorists, driven by greed as usual.

Troy
All the people of Aotearoa would`nt condone going in the direction of Zimbabwe at all.
That idea would have to be driven by the ones that have run to here from a system that created apartheid within their own country & have had to resort to running away from the monster they created

Re:Maori activists on the warpath Reply to this message
Ok all good comments except when people start making comparisons with Rhodesia/Zimbabwe.Lets try and keep this in perspective neh ?
Aotearoa/New Zealand still has a long way to in addressing the issues of Maori. Now do not consider all Maori are the same nor can be considered such, in terms of political reasons, there is, has and always will be differences between tribes and haupo even Iwi. Such as these issues they can only be resolved between the tangata whenua. It is not my concern such as the issues amongst our political Parties are not my concern as I don't belong to any.
As for the 'myth' that was created that we are all one people as New Zealanders Maori have ALWAYS we cannot be for various reason given.
Also before those with out an understanding of our Tangata Whenua we are and always will be Tau iwi. It is not a derogatory term but merely explains that we come from a different place.Look at our history. During a time of Global WAR Maori formed the famous 28th Maori Battalion as an example who fought for King and country as did and have thousands of Tangata Whenua in that conflict and many others since.
I have stood eye ball to eyeball with Maori activists over 3 Waitangai Day ' celebrations'.Those days it was a matter of 'right' and 'wrong' for me.Now having a few more years under my belt and further learning about our country I see why some of these so called 'activists' were and are so passionate. However we have now in place a system of attempting to correct past mistakes, that is the lawful avenue for redress.
In saying this as my opinion I know that we will still persist in those whose choose not to discover the issue we have between Tangata Whenua and the Gvt, but continue the diatribe of mischief and hate.

I cannot give you the numbers on drug related Murders/ h o m o cides.
Which out weighs the other?
I have no fear for my children or grandchildren when it comes to matters of Maori 'Activism' as they know and will know how this country come to being and how to respect the ideas of others.
