jst2good and all the others fixated with this... not all of Veitch's income comes from tax... he also does a lot of work on the public speaking circuit, and a lot of TVNZ and Radio is funded via advertising...
I don't agree with what Veitch did, but I think this fixation with his income is a distraction... yeah sure a part of his income comes from tax, but it is his income and once it is in his bank account surely he can do what ever he wants with it... if we had a say on how every tax dollars was spent, we would need a lot of public servants to monitor what a lot of public servants spend their money on. |

| I REALLY do not see the benefits. And what JUSTICE? There will be no justice. The parcel was sign, sealed and delivered which has now been opened and spent. How much more do you want NZ to spend. Where does this rank in urgency. More time needs to be spent on tighter immigration, promoting our organic market something for our economy. This story is unnecessary expenditure. |

| I got news for everybody: the poor lady slipped on the stairs because she was drunk and....!!! The sad thing was, it happened when they were having a heated argument! There were no slaps, just "little" pushes!! The poor man admitted to these "little" pushes, but there were also "little" and "medium" pushes from the poor lady! They said it's a private matter, that ended tragically wrong!! Oh, but all the news, opinions, accusations!! If only they knew! The poor man made the mistake of paying the money - is all!! |

| Anyone ever think that its minutely, even slightly possible this was an incredibly well orchestrated media and legal event in which Tony Veitch himself leaked the story? Having been plagued by guilt, that potentially to manage future damage control and simultaneiously purge, he outed himself? Nothing would surprise me at all these days. But never mind, he'll front up on some 'its not ok' advert, and before you know it hes the reining dancing with the stars champ and middle NZ has forgotten his transgression... or he hopes they have. |

| What Tony Veitch did was tantamount to assault causing grievance bodily harm since his victim ended up in a wheelchair. He then appears to have attempted to pervert the cause of justice by paying her off for her silence so WHY on earth are so many people rushing to his defence? He is no different to the thugs who assault each other on the rugby field in the name of sport. What rugby players and this sports commentator has in common is that they all presume themselves to be above the law. Most rugby players need anger management and Veitchy aught to be in jail. |

| I think until we have nil tolerance to any sort of abuse, this sort of thing will never stop. It is accross the all classes of people until we as a nation say enough is enough we will read this sort of thing in the paper all the time. This could be your daughter or grand daughter. It is a perfect time to say "No" to abuse!!! |

| To anyone who wants to listen it appears to me that the more of a PUBLIC FIGURE one is or WEALTHY one gets, a judge in sentencing that person will often take into account their âfall from graceâ as sufficient sentence in itself. Hence crooked Lawyers, Accountants, etc who rip of someone elseâs life savings or otherwise beat up on someone else in one way or another end up walking whilst the rest of common society have to go to jail. If the fortunate few do get a jail term it is often much less than others get and they even have special white collar jails for them to go to. I think there is something terribly wrong with that. |

| I totally agree, thugs like that should pay the price enough to domestic violence! but then again its the abuser not the abused that gets the sympathy,it takes a weak man to hit a woman,having been in that situation, im sick of the man blaming the rest of the world on their problems stand up you "wimp" and do the time for your actions dont just admit to it cause you got pushed into a corner and got scared. think of how your woman felt when you were doing this to her, you gutless wonder!!!! |

| How many of you folks know that Eric Rush caused the death of another person in a car crash in the early 1990s, and how NZ holds him up as a role model? Leave Tony to battle his own demons and set things right the best way he know how. He didnt even have to front the media with a statement and yet he did. He needs support and understanding, forgiveness is possibly for his ex-partner to decide. |

| We don't need to hear from her, he broke her back...remember!!! Don't lose focus on the crime he committed and then tried to cover up. He is a women basher, they come in all shapes and forms and from all classes in society. Why should we give him any slack just because he's a good tv presenter?? |
