The victim has been on ACC for the last two years, it has been said that they both agreed to say that she had fallen down the stairs. Therefore the victim is de frauding ACC by filling out a form to say she fell down the stairs.
If Tony Veitch was an All Black he would have gotten a slap on the hand and told to go to councelling which he said he has done. Oh and be allowed to continue in his employment. Jimmy Cowan stayed so should Tony Veitch.
Go Tony. |

Dont be crazy, we let murder go, Government and council giving contract to gang, and what can PM do? All she is interested is to get back into power. Please!!! Tony Veitch it only waste the police time in looking at pitty litter problem and wasting lot of time.
Let look at the Ex-partner, did she claim ACC under work relate injury or what did she tell the hospital. Like Peter Low said, money can buy anything included Silent in New Zealand

| If the police are called in to child abuse hospitalised cases why not adults? If this was a one off assault ,why go to one year of counselling? The NZ public want victims remunerated but they expect the offender to do their time as well according to the seriousness of the offence. |

| Well said, he stuffed up,took steps to rectify the nager problem, compensated the injured party, the agreement between them both saved the tax payer the cost of a trial,as he has said he is constantly aware of what he did, the agreement I belive is "retorative" justice, let the matter rest.Who out there is sqeeeky clean. As a wise person in dyas gone by says "cast out the mote in thy own eye before the mote in your brothers eye" |

this wasnt a slap around, it was a sustained enraged attack where he kicked her repeatedly on the ground until he damaged her vertibrae. Sorry isnt enough. No matter whether you are for or against, every woman [and maybe some men] in nz who has been a victim of violence can see past the simpering self preserving media release to what he really is. Let him go????? Same as we let the kahuis go?
You can kick a person into a wheelchair but you cant smack you naughty child? The tvnz add should read 'its not ok, ever, unless you work for us'. |

| What next, obviously he has issues like everyone else. I agree its between him and his ex girlfirend, and all it tells me is he is human like everyone else, not immune to losing it. I dont condone any sort of violence, but what goes around comes around, and he will for the rest of his life remember what he did to his ex...and so will NZ, they all have bloody long memories, maybe this will humble Tony... even TVNZ cant argue his case...I hope his counselling helped him, I am all for giving people a second chance, he may become a role model in telling men that what he did was not right and the consequences..for the rest of his life, will follow him even down to his children, that their dad assaulted a woman badly....and the funds he paid her, not enough... emotionally she is scarred, and it will take time for her to heal her emotions and trust men...this is this months news next week it could be Aunt Helen's cat up a tree!!!! |

First of all, there is now a police investigation into this so Tony Veitch is innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt. Secondly, he was right in his press statement that there is no excuse for what he did.
People are taking this one incident and blowing it out of proportion. What he did was wrong, no question. How he has dealt with it since shows that he does not take what he did lightly. He has sought help, he has forked out a substantial amount of money, he is apologetic about it (and I don't just mean the statement he read to the media, but directly to the victim), he had informed his current partner all about it and he has taken responsibility for his actions. Rather than boycotting him we should be holding him up as an example of how people can deal with this issue from the perpetrators aspect.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying he is a hero for what he did, just the opposite, his actions were cowardly, but he does deserve some kudos for the way he has dealt with it. |

| ACC is obliged to pay out for ANY injury regardless of how it's inflicted. Don't just lip off about stuff you don't know about, find out the facts. You know the internet is a wonderful place to learn lots of things about our judicial system and the various government departments that are here to serve our nation. Too much opinion here, not enough facts. Do your research people, that way everybody learns... |

| man, what a lot of drivel. Tony is getting slammed because he is a personality, Yeah it was wrong, yeah he took his time to admit it, but he has openly done so now. Better late than never and how many of you would have posted on this blog when you neighbour beat up his wife? did you want to write to useless halen clark then? I think not. Let tony get on with his life and resume his jobs. |

| An act of contrition is the first step to redemption and forgiveness. We seem to forget about the thousands of cases where violence is left undiscovered and unhealed for many years until it's too late. Tony Veitch was wrong for what he did and how he handled it, but it takes a bigger man to own up to his shortcomings. |

| The more I read, the more I think wow what about all those other criminals that have been beating 2 year olds and 3 year olds from birth and still have not had to explain themselves on national TV. Okay so the whole of NZ knows who Tony Veitch is, but our babies of NZ are being killed every day and those people are getting name suppression, they haven't allocated investigators for them. What a waste to our tax money. What a stupid world!! |

Kudos?
Are you on drugs?
This animal was only thinking about his own self preservation by concocting the story of Kristin falling down a flight of stairs. Remember, this story broke on Monday and he only fronted on Wednesday after consulting with his legal team. Then he didn't have the guts to front the media questions afterwards. KUDOS?
As for "he's taken steps to deal with it by seeking counselling for a year" - how do we know that's accurate and true? Show me the evidence. For me, I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth now as he has proven to the country that he is a deceitful person by his actions over the last 2.5 years.
I believe his statement has given a new challenge to any investigative journalist to seek the truth about it all. |

which raises the issue, he had the clarity of mind once he had finished his performance, to concoct an explanation and convinced her to comply, then sold it to ambulance and hospital staff. Very cool and calculating head in a critical situation no? He was thinking of her?????
not for one moment. |

| club you are correct ACC does have to pay on any injury sustained, however you do have an obligation to notify them if you have recieved compensation/insurance for the injuries of that incident. I am at a loss as to your last message, you have gone from being factual in relation to ACC, but then you talked of the incident as if you were there. That is a very heavy judgment you are making. |

| To j.holmwood, I am only commenting on details that were written in the press regarding the concocted story they both came up with. Remember also, when this happened in 2006, there were rumours flying all over the place about Kristin's injuries especially in media circles, so that story was circulating at the time. It's only the passage of time that has proven otherwise. |
