Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
First, alsways had a problem with him and his cult of personality church. But watched him tonight on TV, and thought, so what, they can believe in what they like, do what they like, up to a point. The positive thing about their church is that some gang members will swap over hopefully from one gang to another and not be involved in crime any more. If they choose to to send money to him and regard him as "king" so what? If they are out of the crime loop, and can become functioning members of society do you care how they do it?

Re:Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
cally, you are correct theoretically, but when you consider that they were or still are considering being a political party, and trying to have a say in the running of our country and our society, it is a bit of a worry.
Judging by the calibre of the posters on these message boards, and what that means as to the average intellect of our population, maybe they would sweep to power and control us all !!!

Re:Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
cally, you make a very valid point, Tamaki is always hammering home good family values backed by scriptures which has turned many unhealthy lifestyles around.

I can't see any problem with his new spiritual designation, you're either going to be a follower or not and only they will refer to him as King.

Re:Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
Hmmmm I'm not so sure. I never feel its healthy when someone stages themselves on a pedastol so far above everyone else. Are people really going to learn values from this guy or are they going to be controlled and bullied???

The best way to get alone side people and really honestly help them out is:

Not to walk infront of them, they may not follow, and don't walk behind them, you may lose site of them, just walk beside them and be their friend.

NZ doesn't need self appointed arrogant Kings hiding behind the Bible for their own self glory.

When you read about the money involved in this organisation, most of it coming from WINZ and Working for Families, it makes me think " whyu didn't I think of it first ? "

Re:Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
vinsenian et al.
all your concerns echo mine, but I can't help thinking that the strange chap who calls himself "the bishop" may be able to help and improve the lifestyles of his followers. I don't like it any more than you do. Read a thing not too long ago about people who joined gangs and the take home message was that for many disenfranchised folk, joining gangs was really not the stupid thing too do. Hate the thought myself that this could be true, but it did make me think about how different other peoples lives are and how I shouldn't condem them from my cosy middle-class view point. Still don't like him as a person though.

Re:Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
Bad news this man i tell u , he gives the Christians a bad reputation and how he minupulates the Bible to suit him not cool!!!! although i am most certainly the best example of a Christian and certainly dont know how he see's this what he is doing as biblical it's clearly stipulate not to boast one's self and to Jesus came to serve not be served and Jesus is the King of the Jews how he see's it that he must be served and not serve where is the humbleness , certainly the bit i know and have heard of him he is far far of track as far as biblical values and he is takeing heaps of people down with him , most certainly not a role model of a 'good bishop' as far as the bible states as to how to be a good bishop , New Zealand is not of the most religious nations and the few that do believe and could maybe still believe one day have been marked by the unbeliever as 'bad because of what this guy is doing he is giulty of leading many astray from maybe one day believing and being a stumbling block too all , some one who lives in a glouriusly big house as he does and has as many riches is just out there to take the' cream of the crop' whilst his members of the congreation are struggling to make ends meet and also whilst other new zealanders are on the bottom scale he sits back and lives of the 'fat of the land 'totally arrogant and selfish and what makes matters worse he proclaims to be a "good bishop " and does it in the name of Christianity , sick totally sick hope he gets his day in u know where

Re:Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
Im not ok with mythologising Brian Tamaki into a demigod. Clever mortal yes, King no. To canonise himself, and declare people can't eat until he eats, sit until he sits, call himself the closest thing to god, is trying to create himself as if he were a living god. Theres a very fuzzy line here between leading and absolute power corrupting absolutely.

Re:Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
I don't like Tamaki on face value alone.
However I can agree with what he says their organistaion is trying to do in society. If people on low incomes throw the dog a small bone in terms of tithe then so be it.As for ma church well what ever floats their boat, the Mormons has SMITH and look who big they are. Hell even the brethren here in NZ would out own Tamaki and destiny.
To me I only recognize 2 religions and neither are Islam.
Destiny , no pun intended, will have to weather the tests of time.To me hes down there wiht the goat riders amd illuminati :P

Re:Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
I can't help but relate this guy to L. Ron Hubbard in my mind (That's not to say that the more established churches aren't guilt free either). He saw a business opportunity, got granted tax free status and made off with millions. Brian Tamaki is a smart man, especially in demanding a lifetime allegiance from 700 earners.

Re:Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
Tamaki is adored by the dumb...protected by a posse of thugs...milks hundreds and thousands of dollars from the gullible...lives high on the food chain whilst his 'flock' foot the bill...

...he is like most of the USA evangical preachers...a snake oil salesman who should be run out of town (or jailed) by the NZ judiciary...

Re:Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
That may well be true ace but i would prefer to wait and see. yes he has attracted a few folk but thats hardly amazing in this current financial climate.
He has selected a praetorian guard so lets see whats next. \
Unlike the previous poster we have no 'waco' in our midst.
Funny thing he and his policitial head don't seem to understand the difference between a CEO and a 'bishop'
The building blocks he has used are faulty also. The corner stone for him and his followers is greed.History shows us that those foundations do not 'stand' .
Just my opinion.

Re:Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
The problem I have with him is he is not 'christ like'.
Chist didn't own anything, he told people who follow him to give their things away.
Also Brian has lifted himself up above his fellow man in 'his' church.
Hey, we could have them running the country soon.
Now what will the 700 be doing for him them.
Lots of similiarity's to events and people in the past here.

Re:Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
This is just another challenge for Brian Tamaki and his Church..They have been hounded way back about 2002 by the his critics..when he dared to step out and do some stuff and challenge certain things..Did he lie down and die.. NO.. he kept moving forward..It attracted lots of folk' and has changed many lives including gang members who have found a leader who wants to do good and they have great testomonies to tell..
Brian may not be politically correct in the way we think he should do church but if you have a look at every other church they have there own vision and they do church there way.. but bible priciples remain the same..Are they are cult too???...There is a church for every person to choose from that will meet their need..
CULT.. rubbish!!!.Who set CULTW***CH up to be judge and jury..Destiny church is an open book..Has been since way back...

Re:Brian Tamaki Reply to this message
I was not born yesterday Ace..
Yes he is not politically correct in the way we think he should run church..but no one is forced to stay if they dont like it..
CULTW***CH didnot have to take a camera into destinychurch conference..They are an open book...They have turned lives around that our so called democratic system failed to do..Is this a wrong thing or not??...Absolutely not....His style of preaching may put people off ...but it has not put off the many...FREEWILL...When they start kidnapping people, and hiding people, or killing and poisoning people or whatever cults do then I guess we will have alot to worry about.. There is no perfect church...

To that end..There is no perfect Bishop, Pastor, Archdeacon or even the POPE residing in the Vatican with all its glory and history... or WHATEVER ELSE..they want to call themselves.
