"A 16-year-old schoolboy driving 11 other young people on a "booze cruise" was found to be six times over the alcohol limit when stopped by police in Oamaru at the weekend"
Is anyone else missing the obvious?
This boy was 11 times over the limit, IF HE WAS 18. Since he is only 16 and not allowed to drink in the first place, he is an infinite number of times over the limit!!!!!! |

Let's try and stop this carnage on our roads, far too many of our young kids are dying on the roads. Drinking by 16 year olds - total no brainer. Where do these kids get all the money to buy all this booze? Where are the parents?
I think the age limit should be raised on buying alcohol and for driving too. Brains do not fully develop till the twenties and that is fact! |

| Not saying that raising the driving age is a bad idea but what about the young kids that live out of town? A lot of these kids play sport and often have practice after school thus missing the school bus etc.. |

| Realise that some kids have sports, but hey why can't the parents or grand parents organise that? My siblings and I got by without a car (and a cell phone too). I've survived, don't feel the least bit deprived. Still think 16 is far too young for drinking and driving. |

| the point here. Was the KID should have been sober and safe to drive. The only way to cure underage drinking and driving is to raise the DRIVING age. Booze has always been easy to get. My parents were practically teetotal, never had booze in the house. I still managed to get smashed a couple of times before I turned 18 (thats when the drinking age was 20). |

no 16yr old should ever be driving 11 other young people around drunk or otherwise.
at 16 kids can barely be responsible for themselves let alone take on the responsibility of 11 other lives in a vehicle, not to mention hundreds of others drivers on the roads.
The blardy parents of all these children should be heartily ashamed of themselves.
Stupid parents, stupid laws and absolutely stupid kids. |

| parents should be held acountable if the cars were purchased by parents in the first place. 16 year olds nowadays act and behave like adults when they have half the brain of a monkey. they deserve the cane in my days. a good one on the backside would make them see some sense. load of scumbags |
