I agree adam-victoria,
what those kids did was in bad taste, not a crime against humanity.

I always chuckle when I remember Spike Miligan as Dr Strabriscmus (sp) Q5 or World of Beachcomber coming on TV and showing a newspaper whose headline beamed
"Arch Duke Ferdinand Alive ! World War I a mistake !"

I read a bit in Wiki about the assasin Princip. He was not executed because of his age and received a 20yr prison sentence, but died of disease in 1918.Nice to know that ostensibly the main who killed a few million of the white worlds best or cream did die during the war. My great uncles would have been pleased.

simple says
'As a result of the 1930's world wide depression.'

Problem with that argument was that when prior to Hitler rising to power in the early 1930's Germanys economy was screwed not because of the depression (which started in 1927) but because of the Treaty of Versailles- which imposed huge reparation repayments upon Germany to be made every year. When Hitler got into power,he instituted policies that ensured the economy would grow. To put this in perspective Germany did not suffer from the Depression after 1934 and actually showed a huge growth rate right up until the 3rd year of the war -1942.

They had the strongest economy and industry in all of Europe at the out break of the war. Only Russia had the capability to out produce them, but was inefficient because of the constant purges Stalin ran and with communal production being particularly in efficient.
