Are we noting a familiar pattern noticed since our sweet Helen's rise to power?

Media still appears one sided to me. Dirt and criticsm deflected away from labour but made to stick on to key people where it matters.

Familliar story stolen emails get rid of one key figure-no one procecuted for the theft yet inspite of the publishing.
Labour ministers & MP's take their friends on official overseas trips, glossed over. How much did Carter spend again?

Sweet Helen's "husband" indescretions in LA covered up. Who paid for that?

In spite of all the travel, that the fuss is about, is a above board perk of the job do we consider WHICH government granted the perks?

Granted Rodney Hide has certainly disappointed me too, but none of these perk takers have done anything they were not entitled to.

But you watch, the left leaning media have got Rodney in a corner now and he is in real trouble.

People like Chris Carter will come up smelling of s***t oops I mean roses.

xtr. Get a life buddy. Carte is in the past. He has publicly said that it is unacceptable and that he won't take his partner on trips from now on. This has resulted in his latest quarterly expenses being comparatively low.

In comparison, Hide has said he will continue to rort the system until the law is changed. No comparison.

Hide is the biggest hypocrite of them all!

Re:Labours media dirt machine intact Reply to this message
xtr...I think it's a lie to say the media has been one-sided. Before the election last year, it was all anti-labour. The party in govt is always going to cop more because it is them pulling the strings. I actually think National have a sweet ride with TVNZ. They have given Bill English a million dollars of free airtime advertising the channel 7 focus on the economy. Thats a big favour.

Secondly, they have Paul Henry on Breakfast. He is in the Nats pockets big time....and he openly pushes their bandwagon.

TV3 is more objective.

Re:Labours media dirt machine intact Reply to this message
Yes...the media is definitely not left leaning...they always portray John Key in a positive light. You want to see bias media? Try FOX. Oh oops...no...they concentrate on the "real" issues...yes...have you ever actually analysed the content that they report?? Their opinion shows end up influencing their news reports. Like that time the kids at this school in the US did a song about Obama...the parents consented to this. It was reported on Fox initially that the parents consented. Some guy on one of the Fox Network's opinion shows said that the kids were forced to do the song. Then what do you know, in the next news report the news presenter said the kids were forced. Brilliant!!

Is he? Why?

"...the left leaning media have got Rodney in a corner now.."

When the same person apologized means he put himself in that corner

"Yes...the media is definitely not left leaning...they always portray John Key in a positive light."

Well I suggest as you watch the evening news that you get out your little stop watch and check the time spent on labour quotes (naturally negative against the government as they should be) and the time given to the government to counter the criticsm and talk about new policy etc.

Before the election it was definitely on Labour's side and it hasn't changed.

The reason why Key comes up smelling of lavender is that he is taking pains to be absolutely squeaky clean and I wish the rest of parliament would take note.

Re:Labours media dirt machine intact Reply to this message
Labour hardly gets any attention in the media!!! And the reason John Key is so squeaky clean is because he doesn't do anything, like Rodney Hide said. He isn't attacked because of what he does, because the things that he does are quite insignificant. He lets his Ministers take the punishment from the public while he continues to wander around, smiling and saying "Yesss I'm the Prime Minissster of New Ziland".

The only thing I can say is the media is not the only left leaning thing around here.

Why don't you cast your prejudices aside and use your little stopwatch when you watch the news tonight.

Personally Im not concerned with any particular government or party, I just want to see responsibility in our governmental system and a responsible non partisan and INFORMATIVE media.

xtr mate. Your living in Lala land....keep taking your pills. Labour was torn to shreds by the media last year...and they have been nice to National up until the last few months when the Nats and their coalition partners have made gaffes.

On top of this you have Paul Henry spouting his right wing vitriole to anyone who's prepared to listen in the morning.

Labour were "torn to shreads" last year because everyone started to realise how dishonest and incompitant they were over 9 years. The media, like everyone else doesn't like being played for a fool. National have presented a TEAM (cabinet) approach to running the country, unlike Auntie Helen who ran it like a dictatorship. John Key is the leader, he leads from the front, he also allows the members of the TEAM to perform to their best without interference. THIS IS LEADSHIP at it's best. Helen just bullied and made sure that all of the credit and none of the blame came on her. That is cowardess not leadership.

Re:Labours media dirt machine intact Reply to this message
Well bronk, it may be a team but what has the team actually achieved? Bugger all. They have sat there and played it safe. They haven't made any tough decisions in case they annoy people. Hide was right when he said all that Key had achieved was starting a cycle-way.

Hell even their literary and maths policy is wrong. They need to realise it is the way it is being taught that is the problem. It's all very well to be able to see where a child fits against the mean but hell, it hasn't addressed how to make them better. I bet you can't come up with 5 bits of policy that have made a significant diffenrence.

Yes...I am rather Left-leaning...however, I still firmly believe that the media is not. If they were left-leaning, they'd be running around Phil Goff and saying how "marvellous" he is. Which they don't.

Re:Labours media dirt machine intact Reply to this message
Is stupdity hereditary in your familly or did it skip evry generation till yours.
Labour made massive fanfair about all the committees and working groups they created to look at whzat might be done. Then did absolutely nothing and whenever it was pointed out to them, they created another working group to investigate.
National:
Deposit guarantee scheme.
Refocus winz to get people into work (hopefully faster than jobs being lost) in a recetion.
National standards, need these, to know where each child stands aginst an actual benchmark. Then you can change things to improve. Labour never knew where anything stood.
Actual spending on schools so they can do things like fix the roof. In many areas Labour had stopped capital spending on schools for as much as 5 years.
Unemployment. Remember at the beginning of the year (due to the recetion) the prediction was 9.5% by the middle of 2010. Then the various methods for helping business retain workers (9 day fortnight etc)It was revised to 8.5% then 8%
now possibly below 7.5%. The US and others have over 10% now and climbing.
I have only scratched the surface. There are many other things in the works, 1st, 2nd &3rd reading in parliament.
RMA, changes to aquiculture regs, tourism promotion, new capital projects (roading etc) repeal of EFA, review foreshore and seabed act etc etc etc.
They have done, I REPEAT DONE(not just talked about), more in this calander year than labour did in their last 3 years.
Keep it up National, MORE DO LESS TALK.
