bronk, I pissed myself laughing.
The deposits guarantee was put in place by Labour prior to last years election. Do some research!
National standards are a cop out. They won't help at all until the teaching improves.
As for lower unemployment, that is purely down to the turning round of global markets and increasing confidence. How did the Nats refocus winz?? Be specific.
Actual spending on schools???...well John Keys old school is still closing because the government wont pay for rotting classrooms. Multiple other schools are alos closing due to lack of maintenance.
Mate Hide is right, they have done nothing. They have got very lucky that the global recession has turned round.
They still won't discuss anything unpopular like how we are going to continue providing super for a burgeoning population of over 65's.
Do we increase tax?
Do we lift the age?
Do we decrease the amount?
He is gutless because he will leave that ecision to Labour who once again will start contributing to a scheme to save for retirement. It may not be perfect but at least they had a plan....
John Keys legacy will be a partially built cycle way with thistles growing through it |

deposits guarantee was not put in by Labour!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They talked about but didn't do it.
Can't change the teaching until you know from what to what.
National standards will tell us that.
Unemployment had nothing at all to do with global markets, our international customers unempoloyment is still rising faster that ours, the signs are ours is leveling off, thiers isn't.
How did the schools get to be rotting in the first place? Oh because labour wouldn't spend the money. Rimutaka electorate had atotal moritorium on slending on schools for 5 years while labour TALKED about whether they should amalgamate them. Result NOTHING was done, the schools were, in the words of one headmaste "growing mushrooms in the halls" I gather she was being literal.
Actual dipstick they haven't discussed it , they have made an ABSOLUTE STATEMENT.
Super to remain at age 65, and at it's current level vs the average wage. Full stop no arguement.
If you think they should change it, then you obviously haven't worked and paid tax for 50years, only to be told at the last minute you can't retire for several more years (closer to the day you die) and you won't get as much.
These people (I am not one ) built the country we live in and take advantage of, we owe them this small thing. We need to find another way.
Labour will typically, as they did for 9 years, and always do and said they would do again. THROW GOOD MONEY AFTER BAD. Re investing in the super fund should only be done when it shows it is not losing money. With alimited money supply we need to building our potential up to make more money. Labour just squandered it for 9 years. |

I didn't say they should change the super bronk..You pretty wet aren't you. However if you noticed what treasury came up with last week....you probably didn't. However, debt will balloon as a result of super unless we either have a Naitional savings fund (such as Cullens'), or ramp up taxes to pay for it. Not nice choices but Key is too gutless to make a call. As a footnote, the Cullen fund has recovered almost all its recession losses and is going full steam ahead.
Check out this website. Indicates to me that the deposit guarantee scheme was in place long before JK got near govt.

Research it properly next time. |

| Bronk...Your both right it was introduced by Labour last year... but the law was passed under urgency Sept 2009 means the retail deposit guarantee scheme will be extended in revised form until the end of 2011, at which point the present Government hopes it can be ended without causing harm! |

Moreover...
My point about the teachers being taught the intended program first... is for them to have a better grasp of it before implementation!
The MOE should learn from the introduction of the NCEA debacle!! It took a full three years for teachers and student to come to terms with its programme |

"Yes...I am rather Left-leaning...however, I still firmly believe that the media is not. If they were left-leaning, they'd be running around Phil Goff and saying how "marvellous" he is. Which they don't."
Well they sure as give Goff plenty of time to parrot his slogans and dead pan face on one news often enough. Far more than he deserves if thats all the drivel he has to spout. |
