Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
Looks like either most of you have VERY short memories, or you weren't around when the Nats were in power LAST time. The National Party lost to the biggest landslide in NZ history because of the appalling mess the country was in, and you want to go back to that again? Get off your selfish egocentric soapboxes and look at the facts for a change!

Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
don't be stupid carl, I can look back further than that. I must be older than you.
The Labour Govt inherited a rising economy, the building blocks of which were put in place by the Nats. They were put out because the voters got sick of the same faces. The story is just the same now for the Labour party.

Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
I think Hagar who appears to be a committed communist will use any resource including stealing private emails to discredit any slightly right leaning organization. I have to say that labour appears to have a fantastic publicity, branding and covert information collecting machine. However the power hunger of Helen Clark shows through her policies. Every policy is designed to increase this power. To allow New Zealanders to choose how they spend their money is absolutely anti Helen because it erodes her power. Now they are busy spending so that promised tax cuts (money which is ours anyway)become increasingly diffcult.

Sandra,
She is some ambassador, wouldn't let the Queen say grace because it offended her. The Queen is the head of the Church of England! She attended a mosque and covered her head though. Strange behaviour even for an athiest

Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
drkameliaa I believe that you have seen worse than where the NZ government is at this time, but what really worries us is the direction we are headng. I'm sure the government you are talking about had far too much power therefore it could do what it liked. I for one anyway am concerned about the amount of power this current government of ours seems to have and I simply don't want it going in the direction you describe. Helen has shown herself to be above the law on a number of occassions and thats a start to a very slippery slope.

Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
The difference Between National and Labour is illustrated below.

Father/Daughter Talk

A young woman was about to finish her first year at university. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a Labour supporter and very liberal. Among her other liberal ideals, she was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed of her father who was a staunch Nationalite, a feeling she openly expressed.

Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor (who sported a full beard), she felt that her father had for years, harboured an evil selfish desire to keep what he thought, should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes for the rich and the need for more government programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing at university.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had passes in 4 subjects, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many varsity friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, 'How is your friend Clarrisa doing?'

She replied, 'Clarrisa is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she has only 2 passes. But she is ever so popular on campus; varsity for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over.'

Her wise father asked his daughter, 'Why don't you go to the Chancellor's office and ask him to deduct 1 pass o ...

Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
Her wise father asked his daughter, ‘Why don’t you go to the Chancellor’s office and ask him to deduct 1 pass off you and give it to your friend who only has 2 passes. That way you will both have 3 passes and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of passes’.

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father’s suggestion, angrily fired back, ‘That’s a crazy idea, and how would that be fair! I’ve worked really hard for my grades! I’ve invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Clarrisa has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!’

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, ‘Welcome to the National party.’

If anyone has a better explanation of the difference between National and Labour then I’m all ears.

Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
jogger I'm drawing a distinction between being a good politician and being a good leader of a government. She is a wonderful politician because she stays elected. Seems to be made of teflon. However as a prime minister she is the pits. Making sure we are over taxed, increases her personal power with nearly every new law and succesfully imposing her own agenda of social engineering.

svoford, Sure trust someone who overtaxed us by at least 15 billion and has now frittered it all away. Try dividing 15 billion by the population of NZ to get an idea of your contribution! That is if you actually pay tax.

Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
svofod, Clark and Cullen sat in cabinet when Lange sold $9.5b of state assets. Key has sold none and said he won't. If that changes he has said he will go to the polls over it next election.

Oh and Cullen has just approved the sale of Wellingtons power network to the Chinese...

Facts please, not banshee propaganda
