Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
It seems that many people on here slam Helen Clark into the ground, then jump on her but hey she aint that bad & do you really think National is gonna be any better, look at all their "hidden agendas" - many secrets they sure don't want us all to know about before the Election - can't trust them either, so backoff from Helen Clark, she not that bad!!!

Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
People forget easily; it wasn't that long ago that your precious Helen introduced the biggest threat to a democratic process and hampering freedom of speech with the hugely controversial Electoral Finance Bill. I don't understand how people consider that the Labour Party and Helen Clark are transparent and upfront. It's laughable really. Remember the tax payer funded Pledge Card, that promised no more taxes? How many taxes have been introduced since then? About 10 I believe. What about the changes to the Bail Act designed to empty out our prisons and relieve space? Where are these criminals? Right back in the community.

"no ones transparent and upfront are they. look at the kiwi bank debacle"

Wasn't that a nice distraction? The only problem with that was National bought into it lock, stock and smoking barrel - and the rest of the NZ voting public went along for the ride. Completely threw people off the Winston tack, and hasn't Winston been incredibly quiet since?

Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
Keeping leaders? What about the Lange Labour Government then? Lange went off with his new girlfriend leaving at least two others to subsequently fill in for him until deservedly they lost the election.
So Dodge did you ever consider voting for whats best for the country and therefore the majority of citizens(which would include your children) or vote for what will be most comfortable for YOU in the short term?
Its for people like you that Helen Clark's government has steadily increased the number of citizens that depend on the state. Kiwi saver is an example. Did you ever wonder why they just couldnt give a simple tax cut? Anyway she knows that once people are dependant on the state, they will vote just the way you are intending. Easier to bribe in effect.

Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
National has softened their radical neo lib reforms, but they are a right leaning party, so they are always going to be ideologically focussed towards free market economics, little government intervention, and a base idea that inequality is a fair outcome of the market if it allows us the freedom of indiviual choice. Of course to go the whole hog is to remove state intervention in the form of welfare, and they would lose way too many voters to make that decision.

Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
Free market means an unempolyment rate of 6% or more to suppress wages and create a 3Rd world wage structure. This is so that society becomes 2 tier to suit the 200 or so who seek to control most of the New Zealand economy.

Freemarket economics is a model that was never about real life or people, it was never about fairness, it has never recognised gender, ethnicity or class, it is about money.

Re:Trust Helen Clark Reply to this message
public_emilly, Fairness is about allowing people to enjoy the fruits of their labour. Is it "fair" if the tax payer gives someone a house to live in, pays them a benefit, when this person for one reason or another has not taken advantage of the free education (also supplied by the tax payer) and sort no worthwhile skills and makes no effort to find paid employment.
Now I know people just like that, who actually brag that they are able to avoid working.
I don't think thats fair at all!
