Re:Status of the Pope Reply to this message
I was raised on the Pope and Catholic faith.
Had I still been living in Sicilia, I would have been appalled at some of the comments I've seen.
However, since I've lived here, I've opened my eyes to alot of new religions, especially, the prayer that my Mothers parents go by which I really connect with, it's called Pai marire and the religion is Hau Hau.

Re:Status of the Pope Reply to this message
Who yoda? - Seriously i don't like him, and feel he is inapropriate for the job. John Paul seemed to fit better with me. I am not catholic so probably can't give a well balanced opinion, but if you take the age old issue of abuse by catholic priests, he took far to long for his admission and appology..BTW that's Australias appology, we still havent had ours.

I also remember him being questioned soon after his induction, of his views about abuse internationaly by his clergymen, and he stuttered something along the lines of. "well i understand that priests are often subjected to temptation, and...TEMPTATION?.. Wrong answer buddy, they were children.. BAAAHHH>>

Oh ok they might be family lol.

There's a church at the pa called Te Ahurewa, there's usually a service every Sunday, most of the people that go are old kuia and koroua, the same age as my Grandparents, they follow the Hauhau faith.

Sativa:Chiky

They could be your family?lol

It is interesting though to learn about differing faiths, regardless of what others may think, but that is what happens, everyone has an input.

Yep probably, I wouldn't know them by name or face but if they're from Waikato and have to do with Tuheitia and the Kingitanga than they're most likely related lol.

Re:Status of the Pope Reply to this message
Do you think that the Catholic folk put him on a pedestal like he is a God.He apologised to I think only 4 people ...I believe handpicked ...for the abuse that occurred while under their care as young children. Why should the Pope apologise for these priests who committed these crimes...Do You think that the church should be more transparent..Many are still out there hurting..

Not a God, but the head and spokesperson for the church, the buck is supposed to stop at him... It lets the faith down by avoiding the obvious..

Re:Status of the Pope Reply to this message
The pope is a safety hazard when he goes around to these countries, drawing crowds of thousands. He is a big terrorist target. Imagine if a bomb goes off in one of those big parades?

Re:Status of the Pope Reply to this message
not only the catholic churches have children molested. there are a lot of them out there in other religions. be it, these so called christian churchs that pop up out of nowhere, with bible in hand preaching on streets, knocking on doors, giving there services in hired halls, or schools. No not only is in it the catholic church, known for a fact. What about the presbytarians with gay preachers, gay marriages. Get with it you lot. This man called the Pope is the head of the church, Just like Mike Tamaki is of the Destiny church. Why is he on a pedastal. ripping off the parishioners and living a rich life on them.

Re:Status of the Pope Reply to this message
Eve - That's an interesting point. I don't think the various churches make them that way, i think troubled minds may search for help in the form of religeon, and the churches are not equipped to deal with their illness's.. For years the catholic church moved on priests who were pedophiles to other areas, instead of calling 111. Many religeons (certainly catholic) have resigned to the fact that it is a criminal act and can not be dealt with internally... Probably through pressure from the public only though..

And it's the lack of admission that farks me off. Without admission, there can be no remorse, without remorse you run the risk of repeat offending.. Although we are alot more switched on these days....
