| Come on this guy, who is chinese, stomped and punched a dog to death and used the excuse that this is how they discipline dogs in China, give me a break, and he got home detention and some fines. No wonder this is allowed to go on if all a person gets for abusing an animal is a slap on the wrist. Anyone feel free to give an opinion on this. |

| Tazer him for punishment,then send him home ..back to China .Live under NZ laws or go back.We are way to soft here.If we lived in China we would have to live under their rules. |

| Maybe we should have an "Anti-smacking Law" that covers animals (not the human kind). Now, that would stop this type of behaviour. |

| So good, most people agree this is just wrong, but it isn't just Chinese, there are so many cases and the fact is the law does not do enough to punish them abhorrations of society. We complain about how people hurt children and adults, but the first step is always on animals, a proven fact. The law needs to be changed but never will |

Here is a dilemma thrown for thought (not for argument just for balanced consideration)
in a place where children are starving and all there is to eat is " a dog "
eat the dog and save the child
or...
save the dog and let the child die ? (where it may then eat the child ). |

| I think as long as it is done humanely, of course I would have to kill the dog but as long as it doesn't suffer this is fine. |

| Ok here is another dilemma - why in third world countries do they advertise for us to help feed the children when the parents keep having child after child knowing full well that they will die of starvation, why don't rich countries offer after one child that they can opt for a hyst *** omy or vasectomy? Hmm |

| the excuse of cultural reasons is common when laws are broken in this country. i say if you want to keep your cultural identity stey in china or africa or where ever you come from.if you want to live in new zealand live like a new zealander. |

| Not death, he need to feel the pain of his bones healing and to dread cold morning for the rest of his life and give him time to reflect on what he did, funny though if the dog had bitten him in defense the dog would have been put down in an instant. But cant vote in jail maybe he promised to vote labour if he wasn't locked up |

| nothing wrong with eating dog....done it myself...you probably have as well without even knowing it....what is wrong is the way the animal is deliberately stressed to prepare the meat prior to killing |
