New Zealand is now known to the Muslim world as safe place to be. Are we safe to be with them? More and more mosque are build in New Zealand and the last thing I want is ended up like East Papua New Guinea fighting for their freedom.
I find there are good Muslims leaving amongst us who care less about the media labeling on them but I am still want to know about them. |

| lol charlie. ummm well planz cant say im a fan of them. I live in Mt Roskill, and if ever there was a place that could be similar to a muslim country, that would be it. Personally for me they are here as visitors..what they contribute i have no idea, Im reminded of that Ahmed Zaoui case, the long lines at the WINZ offices, The pleading stories of if i get sent back i will die! Housing NZ homes given out while others wait. Naa we are sucked in, and now we have to be accepting! Gona take a miracle before I change my tune! |

| I sure do agree with you kiri I did not put this on to advocate for them but would be nice to know whats behind their charm. I have a lot of Muslim friends but tell one thing they are not an easy lot to teach about other colors. They sure been isolated and come here with these ideas that are out of this world. They seems to learn a lot about our western culture but refuse to change their ways thinking we are out to destroy their world. (western world). Half of the problem is the media, did you see the latest with one kiwi journalist who stayed in the middle east for 30 yrs talked about our people to get out of the middle east. As long as the American continue to bomb th MEast, they will flood into other areas and create problem for us. |

| People are always afraid of things they dont understand... at the bottom of it all they are the ones being attacked by the west and they have been for a millenia. I am sure if american planes were bombing our homes and running around our towns in tanks and humvees shooting our kids, we would be doing the same..... a human bomber is a poor man's skud missle....the muslim's here are probably just as law abiding as any other community and just care about getting their kids fed and educated - just like us....comments such as being posted here are just creating a problem for the future. Go to australia and see what is happening because people holding muslim beliefs are ostracised... it is not a question of them not assimilating - they face ignorance and bigotry all over the place....we are in law a secular country with no offical religion and tolerant of all....thats the law and there is no basis to stop them coming provided they meet immigration criteria....I'm bloody proud to live in a tolerant and fair minded country... |

| I watched a doco sometime ago..There was a group of Muslim families were being interviewed. They had resided in Britain for 20-30 years.Had grown up families - british born and educated children..lawyers, doctors, teachers etc..Parents were shocked that their children had been recruited by radical muslims extremists. Guess we really dont know what the future holds..Whose to say it wont happen here... |

| That journo planza is not a kiwi, his name is Robert Fisk - he is a pom and people should read what he is saying and think about it.....if the west is going to bomb the s.h.i.t. out of their homes of course they are going to look for places like NZ. Like any ethnic group if they come it will take 2 or 3 generations for them to adapt and they never will if they are subject to bigotry and prejudice...if that happens then we might see a bit of resistance from them here to and who could blame them? |

| Yep, heaps of muslim countries you would be....when the christians took Jerusalem in the crusades they slaughtered everyone there.... many were actually arab christians... christians had always been tolerated before the crusaders arrived AND ALWAYS HAVE BEEN SINCE....west africa is typically 50/50 muslim/christian and it is sweet, people dont even give a stuff about what a persons religion is.... |

Dont you watch the news Sean..... they are now bombing Parkistan....all the other countries they are in their with their foreign policy agitating (if of course the country has any economic or strategic interest to them). The muslims in India are a very small minority subject to vicious attacks by radical Hindu's..just like Christians...

jdyhrberg,another thing you dont know about these bad ass people,I work with a lot of Pakistanis Muslim men.They hate it when any non-muslim men make comments about any muslim women,but they're the first ones to whistle and wink at any other ladies.
