My family come from the Netherlands and all my extended family are very concerned about the steady rise in the both the numbers and militancy of Islamic immigrants. |

Do we have to go down that level of discussion. Lets use the power of the mind to look at the issue logically. Very exciting stuff lets not attack each other. Lets critic how best we can put our ideas as why is not right or why shall we accept. I am proud to be a New Zealander for one reason only. We do not give a stuff about what the world is doing.
Although its heading to our shore, but how do we well prepare to accept and tolerate any unwanted issues. Isn't this the part where we look to our government. They are busy drafting laws for the benefit of their parties next election. Groups are putting forward bills to suit their operations, how about the public putting forward request for guidelines.
Well I still think it boils down to who has the money. Thats the person who steer the wheel of the boat while poor people like us ride into whereever they're taking us. What is the government doing about it, they sail along with it, as long as they get the seat in the election. |

Muslims in other countries are being pushed into a corner, how would you react. I know you are a New Zealander so probably nothing. But these people (overseas do have a real fight on there hands and no other means) I DO NOT AGREE WITH IT, NO ATTACKS PLEASE.
I have said before on this post that Muslims fit into NZ very well. Try fitting into their countries. Not so easy. The population as a whole lets them get on with thier beliefs. And they do not impose on us. Whats the problem.
There are no cells in NZ, what would they want with us. NZ is at the bottom of the world and little consequence if we sank into the ocean. Get real.
There is no strategic location in NZ that 'radical' Islamists would want. What a waist of time bombing one of our spy stations. There is a network over the world that would make up the difference.

| I make a small mistake, a year or so a flight crew was attacked by a somaili, This chick had been assesed by our health system as unstable if I remember correctly. But let loose. She was just mental like a lot of other NZers. sorry for the mistake. |

| C-pierce, good input. I quite enjoying reading your sharing and thoughts. Nice to hear your exprience and I couldn't agree any less. We accuse the muslims, but we can't see the other side of the page where the westerners are rushing to the MEast for the thirst of oil or controlling of the economy. Then we will continue this way unless proper dialogue is in place to share resources rather trying to control them. At the end of the day, lame people like us suffer and guess who do we blaim. Again lame people like us and the quilty parties carry on with greed of power and control. |

planza, I don't like to think of the people of New Zealand as lame. We have just lost our way.
Look at the All Blacks for the last 20 years. They are still the best team in the world, in my opinion. But have lost their ability to follow through. Like the country. No longer willing to compete on the world stage.
I have many opinions, to many for me to belt out now.
I am one of the 'losers' that has taken the option of working overseas. (further than oz) NZ2 |

I do agree C.pierce, New Zealand people are not lame, given the way politicians spent time defending themselves rather doing good to protect New Zealand one can only think that way.
They are suppose to lead us to compete on the world stage, instead we became another small country line up behind Australia. Many NZers head to OZ and so as our profit. With most Banks and companies own by Australia and outsiders, most profit headed to whichever country own those companies. Not that I blaim them.
Its our loss that our system is open to all big countries and companies to buy it out. The current government is spending money to buy back NZ assets, but I think its a beat too late.Things should be least instead of selling unless is something we don't need.
However, that is the example of our government lack that we ended up with more people heading our shores. I think I would like to point out, many came as refugees when in fact own higher qualification. This is facts as I knew a lot of them use to live in hostels.
They ended up with residencees,some have homes given under curtain policies line up to accomodate refugees.
Having to say that, we have people in our country who are homeless yet we open our doors to refugees who volunteerly leave their homeland. This is not including those who have life threatening from previous regime and definitely need to seek safety else where. |

They have the oil, the west wants it, wants it now and cheap. They have a resource that we all want now. It is not that we don’t have our own. It is just too deep to be worth getting now. This is a case all over the world.
OK, first point OIL
Religion. There has been fighting in the middle east between Jews, Christians, and Muslims for how many years? at least 2000. The world powers are using the religious power to create this turmoil. If you have a country with a majority then you can use that majority to manipulate others to fight without getting to the real point. It is old cold war stuff. Get power in a region and take the recourses to ensure your supremacy. We now have only one real power in the world. It will change. Just as the Roman empire rose and fell Ottoman empire, British Empire.
That must be point 2
This is what it is all about.
We now have 2 new powers rising that are obvious. The others are desperate to keep up. China is active in smaller markets to secure the oil at ‘now’ prices. Africa…..They have huge resources. |
