| I read this thread with a sence of growing horror, and disbelief...sean miacheals, what you don't seem to understand is that the radicals as you say in capital letters, are targeting moderates. Inncoent muslims, sitting down to Iftar in Islamabad, blown to bits. In the market place, innocent muslims, blown to bits. How can you even conscider that the innocent victims of these crimes, christian, muslim or otherwise, are allowing this to happen, that they even accept it? These attacks are in NO way religiously motivated, it is an attack on the people of Pakisatan in an effort to get their government to sever ties with their allies the good ole US of A. Politics. Sean Micheals. politics. Your muslim bashing and hatred over something you just don't understand, make me really fear for the future of our country. Wanna know how things really started going wrong in britan and australia? people like you who used their ignorance to fuel their fear, and refused to accept people different from themselves trying to make a better life for themselves. Rascism happened and drove immigrants into a corner surrounded by rocks and hard places. Why would you want to integrate with a people seemingly intent on keeping you in a ghetto, who will beat you, knife you, stone you, burn your business down, sneer, abuse you? And thats what us white folks do. You want a different future for NZ? Put your bigotry away, and your hatred. |

| ari, I am afraid you are wasting your time. unfortunately people like Sean dont understand time is something we dont have. No Sean I am not trying to censor you, am trying to get you to listen to the weight and logic of argument against you. I think this is a disturbing but very challenging thread it is a pity it involves a small group of people in NZ which will only become a problem if we make it. You rightly have several times pointed to the fact you are concerned for your children and surely as a parent you can understand that is all the vaste majority of people want. Hopefully this thread will allow people to at least think about that foremost and common interest we all share. |

| It appears that there are some very strange views of Islam. If we are to discard emotion and stick to facts then I would point out the following. Islam believes it will one day rule the world. Christians and other followers of monotheistic religions (people of the book) will be allowed to live protected and unmolested in Islamic communities provided they pay the extra taxes due under this system. They will not be allowed positions of responsibility or power in public or private business. All other religions will be given the opportunity to convert to Islam or be executed. The 1975 Islamic council of Europe put in place a plan to gradually assimilate the whole of Europe into Islam. The plan is well advanced in the U.K. with a separate Islamic Parliament and operation of Sharia Law within their own communities. Their leaders have openly stated that they will take over the U.K. by out breeding the British and gradually suppressing the people by taking advantage of the soft P.C. attitudes that they can easily exploit. No matter what they tell you about moving for a better life, they are here to claim New Zealand for Islam – not by bombs or guns, but by patience, stealth and exploitation of our open welcoming and accommodating attitude. As one Muslim friend at university once told me “Convert to Islam now. You will be seen as untrustworthy as you will be a convert. But at least your children will be born into Islam and be seen as proper Muslims when we take over." |

Just to reply to a comment made earlier about NZ being irrelevent to islamic radicals.
Actually Bin Laden pronounced us as being on his evil list when we invaded East Timor. If you remember, East Timor was previously controlled by islamic Indonesia.
So we count as Infidels too along with everybody else, (like catholic Philippinos, buddhist Thais, yankee agnostics, etc). |

| Bruce - peace is yours to practice in your own back yard but it takes a leap of faith. You cant be discouraged with a media report. This thread is not about middle east, indonesia, timor... is about NZ. We have proven that we are capable of being a multicultural society and I would like to think we have also proven that we just dont blindly follow the powers that be on the world stage. I think the islamic world sees NZ as that, we are after all engaged diplomatically and commercially. All this subdiffuse about terrorism is just the scaremongers trying to move the focus from the centre to the extremes as an excuse to harrang a very small minority of people in our country. |

| Knowing that the koran is being incorrectly taught and that many beliefs/customs practised today aren't part of the original messages, I tend not to take many of the so called converts or practisers very seriously and sometimes get annoyed when i see these people trying to have us cater for their beliefs in my homeland, we should be wary and cautious as some have proven themselves to be in nz for the wrong reasons, there are big problems in england, france etc at present from muslims never having assimilated into adapting into those countries and have instead isolated themselves from the community that gave them shelter and a new life, i see that nz is already having some experiences and i want immigrants and refugees etc to respect that they are in a country that they have to adapt to living in, not the other way around etc. |

jdyhrberg,How many countries have tried to be diplomatic with these MUSLIMS.Britain were so forgiving and giving refuge for those MULIMS.Look at Britain now.Muslims just shove it right back at their faces.It wont work and never will.Their beliefs are very different than ours.
Malaysia welcome muslims to their country just like us now.Just look at the problems that Malaysia is having with the MUSLIM population. |

| So, 3 years living in a Muslim community in Birmingham U.K. Being taught about the aims of Islam, the teachings of the prophet. Full on exposure to main stream Islam and being personally warned by a guy I considered to be a good friend to turn to Islam - and I'm a conspiracy theorist. This is why there was an open letter from the French Muslims to the President Jaques Chirac that he should turn to Islam before he had no choice when they took over France. This is why Muslim police in London's Metropolitan Police Force refused to wear the uniform as it had the Queens crest on it and that contains a Christian Cross. This is why the Muslims in England have petitioned the European court of human rights to get the British bigamy laws overturned so they can have multiple wives. This is why a Muslim driver in England was let off a speeding ticket by the Police as he had just left an appointment with one wife and was late for an appointment with another wife and her lawyer. I think you should carry out a little more research into what is really happening in other parts of the world. Everything I have typed is easily verified. Accusing someone of starting a conspiracy theory just because what you are reading may make you a little uncomfortable – keep your head in the sand until you're praying at the local mosque. |

Oh oh oh!! do we have to call names. Lets not go down that path. We are having fun. Good to hear what people have to say. There is a lot of logic and good point shared already from both end. Not only we can confront our fears but also put forward our concerns to the visiting group. At the same time we hear what the visiting group have to say.
There are some common grounds and there are some boundaries where its going take a hard look and courage to approach it.
Calling other people names does not help the situation but reveal the lack of contribution to the cause of dialogue.
If all fails, this is where people have to tolerate the boundaries we cant cross. I also agree with the point mentioned, visiting somebodys home is to respect their home.
I can name a lot of groups who visit and take over other countries.We do not need to carry on with this weak view but adressing issues in a matter of finding solutions serve us better. We can't unwind time, but try to make the most of time.
Glad to hear your view points. Its been great reading both sides. |

In Holland the naive lefty liberals welcomed in the moslems hoping that they would create a "multicultural society". What they created is a bi-cultural society: the dutch and all the other immigrants in one camp and the moslems in another.
WhAT PEOPLE DON'T RELEASE IS THE ULTRACONSERVATIVE VIEWPOINTS THE MOST MOSLEMS HOLD. These viewpoints are not open to negotiation either. |

| ari - They are devout believers in their religion. They don't want to take over the world - their religion and the teachings of the Prophet says they will. Read the Qur'an, the Hadith, they tell Muslims that they will take over the world. Just look back to last year when a guy in Afghanistan was sentenced to death by the Government for turning from Islam to Christianity - an attack on Islam punishable by death under Sharia law. I'm certainly not a conspiracy theorist and I don't see little green men on my lawn. What I do is find oiut the truth. |

Met a German plumber in New Zealand last week, forced out of his hometown by threats and intimidation from the Muslim community that wanted to take over. He had enough when his 5 year old son's life was threatened. |

Yes I do like the way Clark view the outside worldjdyhrberg70. We are in a place and location where we do not have to involve with the world's nonsense. I gave Clark credit when she told USA administration NZ will not join in the fight in Iraq hence will join to rebuild.
If you want to be on good terms with the rest of the world look into a wider picture rather than a myopic perspective marcho man.
I do not like some of the labours policies, but I must say Clark has a lot of courage to steer NZ to Allies that serve NZers better. We don't want suck up to bigger countries for their army protection. There is a lot of diplomatic way of dealing with issues. That Clark has shown the rest of the world she can put down her foot and say no thanks we will do our thing but will join you later. |

bronco, i am 'exposed' everyday to the islamic way of life, surrounded by mosques and muslims. Have read the Qu'ran in part, but like most religions I have trouble with the creationist theory. One guys interpretation, as with the bible and all the many ways it has and is interpreted, is not the way all muslims believe. Haven't met one yet with a plan to take over the world...sorry! As for open letters etc to presidents...one group of peers, with their mind set and you have a storm in a teacup over flowing to paranoia. I take it ole jac took the threat seriously and is now a devout muslim?
If you start off with a mind set on how one group of people are, in this case muslims, then you will always be able to find 'evidence' to back up your belief. Like the rest of the world, muslims come in all shapes sizes colours and teaching. So if you want to carry on scaremongering without getting a little bit of un biased education yourself, be my quest. |
