Really inciteful post rixat... you got anything real to add to this thread other than your obvious prejudice? |

| Rob - Its a pity you cant see that people like you create the problem. If muslums live life by their beliefs and traditions and elect to do so why does that upset you so much? I understand your fear of muslums but your refusal to acknowledge western aggression as the catylist for international expansion of fundamentalism and terrorism is ignoring reality. You selectively pull out of your little hat people who support your poisoned, narrow view of the world and its problems not realising that fundamentalism on both sides of the divide lead us to catastrophy. You are as fundamental on your side of the divide as Bin Ladan is on his. The only difference between the two of you is he believes enough to do something about his cause whereas you dont have that courage - just a poison pen. |

| lorier - the last crusade was against the Cathars in France. These christian people - men, women and children were pulled from their homes, burnt alive, raped and murdered foully by other christians. The same irrational hatreds obviously still exist today so history remains very relevant. It is the mirror which shows the future if we continue to behave as we did in the past. |

I believe its Muslims not Muslums so lets get the facts straight for a start.
I believe we have to stand up for our rites as a Christian Country 51% in the last census . Muslims 1% . Why should we take our crosses down from our Hospital chapels because they don't like it? Why should our Kindergarten , Preschool teachers be not allowed to talk about Christmas and Easter because the Muslims don't like it? Why should shops in the UK have to stop having Christmas displays in their shop windows because Muslims don't like it? How far do you think we would get in any Muslim Country where we tried to force our beliefs over the Muslim Majority because we didn't like it? Not far your right probably arrested and thrown out of the Country. As I said in my first post Muslims beaver away in a Democracy and change things to suit them and their religion because they aren't use to a democracy. The silly infidels like you cow tow to them and let them destroy our values and belief structure for theirs. Sooner or later a Country has to stand up for its beliefs rites and foundations. |

Muhammad was illiterate and lived in Mecca
He started having fits similar to epilepsy followed by revelations and he had to get someone else to write them down for him.
These revelations were mainly peaceful and promoted harmony
Muhammad told the people of Mecca that they had to give up worshipping false idols.
The people of Mecca told him to get lost
Muhammad was visited by the Angel Gabrielle who told him that the people of Mecca could worship their idols as they were actually intermediaries between mortal people and God.
No problem, the people of Mecca liked this.
Muhammad was visited by the Angel Gabrielle again who told him that the first visit was the devil in disguise and that the people of Mecca should not pray to false idols.
Muhammad told the people of Mecca and they told Muhammad to bugger off.
He had to flee to Medina.
In Medina he organized and took part in raids on trader caravans to fund himself and his new religion. Many people were killed as a result.
Muhammad becomes a military leader and with his growing violence and military success, the more violent the revelations become.
Muhammad and his army take back Mecca.
Muhammad’s early revelations are peaceful. The later revelations are violent and hateful. Muslim scholars apply the rules of abrogation – where there are 2 conflicting messages, the one written last in the more valid. The problem with the Koran is that it is not in chronological order. Research shows all the later messages, the ones that apply, are a more violent and darker tone. Muhammad was fooled by the devil and a religion born in violence cannot live in peace.
For the P.C. amongst you – buy your prayer mats and figure out the direction of Mecca. |

Well said I totally agree with you its not a peaceful Religion. Never has been its a Warrior Religion and its true value base is Sharia Law which is really scary. Would free up a lot of spaces in schools and Uni though cause the women would be at home scrubbing the floor and cooking the food. Maybe the Muslims have got it right. |

| Rob - well you know how to spell but it obviously has not helped you to learn. This is not a christian country, there is no official religion - the right to worship is for each individual as they choose. Who is forcing their beliefs on who? You condemn Muslim parents who object to their children receiving religious instruction in state schools contrary to their belief? I agree with them - there should be no religious instruction in schools as it is contrary to the beliefs of many in a multi cultural society so therefore should be stopped. You extrapolate this right to object by 1% of the population into some diabolical scheme on their part to change our way of life. I got news for you, it is changing all the time - always has been, embrace it and you might enrich your life instead of the frightened little corner you obvously sit in with your narrow minded compatriots. If the violence you espouse and relish so much ever does come to NZ it will be the fault of bigots like you. School yard bullies looking for a small boy to pick on. |

| Well jdyhrberg - What like having Christmas and Easter banned in English schools and colleges because the Muslims object? Like everybody having to observe Ramadan in the same schools and colleges, or the Muslims play up till they get their way. Like banning Christian groups in N.Z schools but having to put in prayer rooms for the Muslims to stop them buggering off to the Mosque on a Friday and not coming back? |

Jdyhrberg. Neville Chamberlain would be proud of you. Ah well, it’s the same the world over I guess. For those that believe, no proof is needed. For those that do not believe, no proof is ever enough. Take that which ever way you like. There is no proof that will ever convince me that the aims of Islam are peaceful co-existence. There is too much proof against that assertion. But you will not believe that.
I trust you will enjoy going to the Mosque on Fridays - or will you choose to be executed for being a Kafir. |

| I am not defending anyone. I am questioning unfounded allegations that muslim people in this country have a secret agenda to take over the country. Instead of joining your agenda of using isolated points of difference between people of divergent belief to drive damaging wedges in our society I am advocating seeking the things that bind us as citizens, parents, etc to find common ground for all. |

Rob,
Get real. It's not the Muslims wanting signs of Christianity removed from display in our society, nor are they prescribing anything regarding religous studies in NZ schools. For one thing, as you point out, they don't have the numbers, nor political influence to effect these changes.
These 'PC' driven decisions are made by those self-same people who think they know what is best for the rest of us. The people who determine policy in this country and put their own 'spin' on what they think others want. In this Islamic country where I am working, I was concerned that teaching students about aspects of Christianity (e.g. Christmas/Easter) at school would be prohibited. When I sought advice on this matter, I was promptly informed that it was appropriate that lessons cover such matters, so that the students had a full education. I suggest that that is much more enlightened than what now occurs in NZ schools.
I also see that we have had some voices here stating that the Crusades were centuries ago and, ergo, they can be discounted from the crimes of Christians.
A 'crusade' is defined as 'a vigorous concerted movement for a cause.' I have no doubt that Rob's dictionary will probably not have this definition in it. None-the-less, it is an accepted definition of 'crusade'.
On that basis, perhaps one of the most horrific 'crusades' by Christians in history ended less than 70 years ago. It is now termed the Holocaust. Heard of this Rob?
The Holocaust was perpetrated by a POLITICAL movement called the National Socialists ( N*zis). The majority of these people were CHRISTIANS. These Christians attempted genocide against the Jews. Rob undoubtably will attempt to deny that a N*zi could be a Christian, through a lack of understanding of the difference between political and religious affiliation.
The Holocaust has far outweighed any recent atrocity committed in the name of Islam. |

| Interesting how you judge but dont like to be judged yourself. You have been denigrating me in the last few posts - read back - silly infidel, etc. Yes, you are a coward - sitting there spreading your fears and hatreds against a very small group of people in this country. I bet you wouldnt stand up and air your views in a public forum in this country, you wouldnt have the courage of your convictions. |

Jdyhrberg,
It's always the same with this sort. They will incite insurrection and spout forth the most perverse and their most illogical interpretation of facts and history. When their rhetoric begins to crumble, from a lack of substance, because it is impossible for them to substantiate their supporting evidence, they resort to the last vestige of the fool - personal attack.
Wouldn't be surprised to see some of these writers standing for parliament in the election. They'd revel in the opportunity to hide behind Parliamentary Privilege, whilst accusing the innocents of all sorts of heinous misdeeds. |

| Yea, me and me redneck mates can go out an blow up some mosques and then you can be vindicated. Good plan. As for me, well I'll just keep working away, supporting work in Nepal and in Bangladesh and off to Cambodia hopefully in the next 3 months. Right now, I'm off out to look for some spare parts for a water pump to send to a village in west Indonesia. The men of the family would normally have done it but they were beheaded by some marauding Islamic Militia. |

| You are right of course catapault. When I was a kid at school we still had special classes for intellectually handicaped kids. I was always offended to see bullies agitating others to pick on them which happened quite often. I see much the same behaviour here from an equally small section of the community. I got a few beltings for taking sides when I was a kid so its much easier being an adult where all you get is insults. |

| Look at you lot. Not a Muslim in site, with the exception of Amy, and here you are arguing amongst yourselves. All the good Muslims are at the local Mosque on a Friday, but other wise would be laughing at you lot squabbling away. They have better things to do with their lives. You try and defend the indefensible and you are all capable of misrepresentation. Groups should never be defined by the labels they give themselves. The holocaust was carried out by people who may have called themselves Christians, but their actions defined them as something else completely. True Christians do not commit murder – full stop. To carry out actions in the name of some faith only serves as justification for those who carry out the deed. It should not define that faith. The Crusades may have been carried out in the name of Christianity, but God would have been shaking his head in disbelief at what was being carried out in his name. So get off that hobbyhorse. It only serves to misdirect, inveigle and obfuscate. Look at the basic beliefs of the faith not at the actions of so-called adherents. George Bush, by his actions, is not a Christian. Osama bin Laden is a whack job, not a Muslim. |
