| It is useful to know that in these elections, there is a political party called the New Zealand Pacific Party which will be contesting for representation in parliament. It is lead by Taito Philip Field and he is contesting the electorate in Mangere. The time is right for Pacific peoples and their fellow Kiwi supporters to be given their chance in the decision making process in central government - at least in the political process. It is being launched soon, so keep an eye out for it. This party will give substance to the statement that New Zealand is a Pacific nation. |

Is anyone really stupid enough to vote for Taito Philip Field? He has shown that he is corrupt, dishonest, and can't be trusted................
Of course it's probably just seen by some as some people being nasty to a misunderstood politician...... |

not too sure about Taito either!, but the pacific community are very much part of the nz culture, so to speak, not only for the Otara Markets,
Way back Samoa was left at the mercy of the Germans during World War Two etc, not too detailed, and yep Winston Churchill did not worry about them or many at that time, and yep the islanders were also injected with a flu virus back in history etc...
One wont go on cos its 2008 and yep they have a right too have their issues concerning Politics and the dreams and desires of their people like other political parties in this country!
Sporting icons, tv personalities etc..yep p.i. ones!etc
As for Tonga and the Cooks etc why not! |

Samoa is too small in size to allow a much larger population. NZ must allow for their survival here.
With the asian vote growing here there is the future likelyhood their immigration may be stopped. |

| I think it is a fantastic idea to have a real, honest Pacific voice in government. The Maori have a voice, the general population of NZ has a voice - bring it on! However, I don't believe that Taito Phillip Field is that real, honest (keyword) voice for the Pacific people. I would certainly not vote for him. |

This isn't PC... and it amazes me that people use the PC Label when something happens they don't like or agree with...
This is about self determination, if the Pacific people decide they need a political party, that is their decission... if people decide to vote for it that is their choice...
If the Asians, do the same, well that is their right...
It sounds like you don't like this idea, you would prefer we stuck with all the current parties with their roots firmly in Eurocentric thinking (Maori Party excluded of course)... Now another me could easily say that is VERY PC of you... |

| Kaituna-For your and others information, the NZ Pacific Party will be launched very soon, but it has been organised in the Mangere elctorate. It will definitely have reps from Samoan, Tongan, etc to show that WE Pasefika peoples are HERE and have been HERE for over 60 years, at least in large numbers. I dont expect you to know any difference anyway, since your 'glasses' are 'tainted' and would not allow clear light to shine through so you can see, metaphorically speaking. And yes, the lavalava would be a good addition to your mental baggage eh, as it would signal your respect for the Pacific's presence. Go vote for it and help Tangata Pasefika to march forth. By the way, imagine what would happen when the Maori Party (and people) join forces with NZ Pasefika Party (once it gets going...yes you can laugh, for now, but mark these words, IT WILL HAPPEN. |

| Talofa the paua- it is good to see your views. It is time to launch a party that signals our growing up in this country which has influenced and done as well as taken so much from the Pacific in the last 150 plus years. When people mature politically etc, they are not going to be saying 'yes massa, No massa' any more to the white massas who have basically controlled everyone's destination by using their political muscle ie democratic numbers etc. Now it is time for us to say, we need that muscle too and so we have a machinery called MMP which we need to use now. |
