| A. Garner! Settlements made regardless of who for and which iwi are just that , settlements that are made in principle..depending on what is contained in the Crown Negotiations v Iwi ..yeah you know the Crown the overall authority..all the people in real world hear is the Dollar amount and think woooe gee those Maori and the money..well hey wake me up..principle clauses are also part of the process that is why there is never ever finality for some iwi...cos the Crown is the Authority not the Iwi..so take the advice and access Te Runanga o Ngati Porou - perhaps Mr Apirana Mahuika will inform you and just remember Maori are tribal..and intertribal as a result of Tupuna Bloodlines okay..every iwi is different..subtle differences that dictate nuances and compromise is the factor for Maori in acknowledging the differences..so hope this is helpful for you, and makes you happy or informed, Legislative Laws govern this country ..not just Maori Law..now what is Maori Lore?? got it??..Sweet!! |

| that is debatable raynbow witch..however there is creedence in the fact that The tribes involved in the Treelords Deal used Kensington Swan as a collective..and yes legal fees take a percentage..other than that ratification is a three year process..dictated by the Crown and drip fed with approval between the officiating representatives..Iwi and Crown!! the Crown.. |

| ouch... This is prolly a question I also think alot of Maori do ask... feel you on that but... due to been made up of different tribes one is Kai Tahu... They all have Runaka or Runanga set up by the crown a while back in order of managing resources and assets blah... but the way it is divided out is dependable I can only speak from my Kai Tahu side and that is they manage the money in investments but you can recieve money via educational scholarships, or by investing say $20 minimum in Whai Rawa which is our banking system for retirement or home buying...and it last year we got $2 for ever 1 dollar we didnt know that was going to happen they worked that out after deposits and financial budgets and alsorts. There are different ways we can recieve it is what Im sayin but not really cash n the hand. Involvment in your hapu/iwi marae also pays for hui wananga, family reunions etc lots of things Im actually happy with how they manage our money but other my other iwi Im not sure but Im happy |

| The 90 million will be cut right down and split into different catergories. Usually it is placed in a trust fund for education and health and other areas but, for the benefit of our future generations. The money is there to benefit all those of Ngati Porou descent. This does not mean that the money is given out willy nilly. I am a land owner and inherited my land from my father who is Ngati Porou born in Waipiro Bay at Te Puia Springs hospital. |

Well the best way to find that out is to ask your Iwi, betcha most Maori that ask this question arent even registered in their Iwi, in which case they would get the annual general accounts all audited etc!
As for the non Maori in NZ whats it to you?? Talk about nanny state! |

Ok so i'm not maori but my great grandfather owned a huge amount of land.... can i claim for it? if not why not? As a struggling youth of the next generation can i claim some money to help my bills and education? Even though i studied hard and passed school i can't just make claim to have my university education paid for, had i been able to claim for private schooling costs i would have definately choosen that over a low decile school where to be quite honest most of the issues caused are by the young maori kids disrupting my learning because they don't want to learn, or is it that they have no worries cus they can claim money later and learn later.?
I have so much difficulty understanding how maori want to claim they are treated unfairly... blah blah blah wake up. if equality is what we want (Which it is and it's what the country needs) then why aren't human rights equal regardless of race or religion. Why can maori claim for virtually and f'ing thing and i cant even get help with a doctors appointment or contact lenses which are a necessity.
Sad isn't it. But go on spend 90 million doing up Marae's i can gaurantee they wont look/ run any better but the supermarket will be out of dbl brown. Should we claim back everything we invented that is used on Maraes or by maori - power, lawn mowers, cars, ovens, microwaves, even light bulbs or do you want to claim that these were originally made by maori too and we somehow stole their ideas like we did land. Honestly wake up and look up equality in the dictionary once your awake. |
