I have an open mind with this one. He was after all proven innocent. The so called event was years ago. I think we need to be careful about judging him when hes clearly getting on with his life. Louise made her claims and now she needs to also get on with her life. I supported her to start with but now I think shes just out for the fame. How do we know Rickards wasn't the victim??

Like I said I have an open mind but thats one thought on it all.

I wonder how many dodgy speeding tickets were issued to insure that Rickards received his 'full entitlement'? Lets see approx $750000 divided by (lets say an average) of $100 per ticket equals 7500. You have to wonder who the criminals are dont you.

I agree with tokoroajaq, he was found innocent, why does Louise Nicholas have to comment everytime there is something in the news regarding Clint Rickards. Like anyone in a job for 28 years he is entitled to be paid out.

roytheboy, I think you might find the money from tickets goes straight to the government and police get nothing. If they did then maybe they could hire some more staff to sort our crime problems out.

Right or wrong - the people (our peers, people like us) heard all the evidence and acquitted him, he walked away, so why shouldn't he have a normal life? It would be unlawful to deny someone without a criminal history (because once your acquitted, that's the end of it) the right to be accepted across the bar. Would you like it if someone said you did something, you were acquitted but yet you are punished because you aren't allowed to carry on as normal...

As for the payout... he wasn't dishonourably discharged, so I guess its something he's entitled to.

you know tok I got to agree with you. I to supported louise at the start and until recently and I certainly don't like or trust Rickards but there does come a point where you have to be allowed to move on with your life. In ways and as yet another thread of despise for the man is made he will pay the price for the rest of his life, a price for an accusation that he was cleared of, regardless of whether we as the public think he is guilty or not he was cleared by the courts. The only thing I was amazed at was how little of the 300k he got after tax. Bloody tax.

Talk - well said... whatever our feelings on the situation, he has a right to get on with his life. And as for the tax, I know! When I get a bonus at work the tax rate is higher than my normal rate, so that'll be why, because it's not under the "wage" catergory. Bugga.

Because he was found innocent. Although he is very crazy to think he will make it as a lawyer. No one would want his services......oh wait on........Maybe he will make a good defense lawyer where he helps criminals to get off scott free! The justice system, how we love it.

Would I trust this guy as my lawyer sorry not in a million years
He was found not guilty ( i have my doubts) but to say his two sleazy mates were honourable says it all dont you think and $300,000 I can think of many more worthy causes and thats taxpayers money

I agree with Tokaroajaq. The guy worked for 28 years, was found not guilty, etc. etc., plus his $300,000 less tax is a drop in the bucket compared what what has been, is being and will be forked over to Kahui and company, Kuka and her boyfriends and little Baily Junior. Why do we begrudge an innocent man the ability to make a living and ignore the fact that we are paying crims??

He did not get a so-called "golden handshake", as some sensationalist media would have us believe. He was paid a years salary and resigned his post, he could have sat on his bum for a year [ on his contract ] and still got the same ! he also got outstanding holiday pay/ sick leave/ and his super [ as does any employee leaving any company ]. What's the big deal ?? No special treatment, think of the chief executives who get huge 'compo' packages after stuffing up a company !

I don't think you have an open mind at all, in fact I think if it was any more closed you would be deceased. Why don't you read Louise's book and find out what the truth is, obviously you don't research before you open your mouth and only go by what the media or other people's opinions are. How long do you think it takes a woman to get over rape, how long do you think it takes a child to get over incest, let alone when it involves people in authority.

Di_Tom - just a thought - how can you read one person's side of the story and call it the "truth"? There are always 3 sides to every story (one side, the other side, and the truth). I'm not saying she wasn't raped, and I'm not saying she was.. but you can't categorically call her side of the story, i.e. her book, the truth and 12 of our peers said he wasn't involved.

di_tom32@rocketmail.com - what a nasty post to wake up to.

You have no idea about me. I have done loads of research into the topic. I was a victim of abuse for many years but unlike Louise I have not gone public with it!!!! I have however developed bi-polar, clinical depression, had three attempted suicides, and had years and years of counselling for a condition called body dysmorphic which is common in child sexual abuse victims. I have been unable to work in recent years. My story is worse than hers! I was a child unable to do a dammed thing about it!!! The abuse last two years!!! I was not at an age when I could easily get help.

But hell, why am I even sharing this private part of my life with you. Its none of your business.

As far as I am concerned Rickards was found innocent in a court of law and now should be left alone. Louise needs to keep her mouth shut from now on because she is starting to do MORE harm to the vicitms of sexual abuse then good.

SHe has past the place of help and justice for her own healing and become a media shyte stirrer. THat won't help others like myself.

Don't judge me before you know me!
