I see an upstanding citizen in the Wairarapa has been convicted of firing shots at fleeing burglars in Sept 2006.
Fined $3000 and loss of firearm.
It has taken the best part of 20 months to get to court but at least the police won this case.
Would I shoot at an intruder ?
I would not hestitate if my family or any one else had been or was being threatened.
It should be our right to protect ourselves using any force neccessary. |

| if i could aim straight, id be shaking like a human vibrator. but which of us has been under that type of pressure, which of us has had to make that kind of split decision, i'd be more likely to hide, run. A former MP Trevor Decleene was quoted as "you need a shot gun under the bed".
In the UK Tony Blair said in the House of Commons he had a message for Judges where home invasions happened. In short..if someone breaks in and is shot it is aright, as people must beable to protect themselves and the family and property.
Maybe our Judges should take note.
My parents were confronted in their bedroom by some who broke into the house.
The person was restrained until the police arrived.
My father was told....you were lucky you didn't hurt him or you would be charged!
What a really screwed up world we live in. |

As some of you know i had a home intrusion a little while back (3 black african youths). If I did shoot someone that would have been because I was holding a gun.
Thankfully I don't have the desire to own one but that said the audactiy of these buggers was such that had I gotten my hands on one of them they would not be walking or more to the point jumping over fences.
I'm not into people taking the law into their own hands but after my experience can empathise with the indignation that fuels people to send a message which is normally when emotionas are heightened. |

Mary despite the occasional dust up that NOOZI and I have(Noozi and I should charge entry) I don't hate.
I would have hated being in that little blighters runners though if I had grabbed a hold of him. He woudl have gotten a bloody good beat down.
Care to elaborate on why you hate Somali's? Lifes to short to harbour that sort of thing and by the sound of it your life has far too much going on in it to be cluttered by something as negative as hate... just interested.

| I have been home invaded, had my house trashed by vandals and been stalked!!! And yes I would shoot at an intruder twice 1st shot to the body 2nd shot in the air as a warning shot!!! I have learnt I am the only one who can protect my family I live rural and Police take hours to answer 111 if they come at all!! |

| Well said putionz. The police did give the ticket quota a rest recenty and try a bit of good old investigative work on some murders but look at the 'not guilty' results. Oh well, back to the traffic tickets I guess. What we need now is a brand new entity that can investigate crime properly and leave this other lot to traffic and arresting the kiddy smackers. |

| Yes if my family were threatened & scared ....less, but first I'd have to get my guns back from the police, who took them during a domestic dispute & who think they are doing great by ridding the country of fire arms by taking them off hunters, instead of taking them from undesirable members of the public & gangs!! |
