| absolutely. I leave 2 of the pigdogs off at night and by the time any intruder has dealt with them - if they can ...we'd be ready for them. No police out here, rang once years ago...nobody came. |

i know what you mean putionz, you know its bugged me all day what I said, reason, i'm actually not a believer of hate, or violence. I guess I just got a shock to hear your story, and then, was momentarily enraged. I don't hate, and try to promote the collective consciousness of love as i'm a firm believer that love is the only way, the one way to world peace, to personal peace and the only answer for all the problems of the world. But you know love comes in many different flavours. Tough love. In love. Universal love. a love of icecream. Brotherly love. Sacrificial love... the list goes on. But hate, is a manifestation of fear and has no love, empathy or compassion.
None of us truely know what we would do in a bad situation until it happens. I've seen the most meek people come to the floor and become wise, calm leaders in times of panic, and I've seen the toughest, most assertive of people crumble and become underlings in times of trouble. We wont know, god forbid and touch wood, until put to the test.
As for Somalians, I've crossed paths with a couple, they are deeply dark people......like voodoo dark.....one of them stalked my eldest daughter when she was 16 and got her in a compromising position, intimidated her into being groped etc. She was very traumatised, we went looking for him about 20min after it happened but came up with nothing. Called the police made a complaint, but nothing happened. They have a 3rd world mentality, they don't care a damn bout us. I want to know why they are let into the country when they are of a lower level mentality. |

you touch on what for me is an absolute truth. Fear is the root of all that ails this world. I sincerely believe that. Not too many people recognise that or make that connection. What makes it a struggle (sometimes)of course is that as an emotion it's hardwired into us as part of our ancient survival mechan!sms.
You progress into a scenario which also speaks to this and that's the "disaster/crisis bring out the best in people" this is when we exercise higher thought processes and not given to an instinctive motivation to move away from an area where others may be in need of help. Some would recognise this as something that seperates us from animals but it is strange that in recent years we have heard stories of pets that suggest that much of what we took as fact is being turned on its head as too things that were taught in our shcools a mere generation gone.
We live in a world that has lowered it's standards that has become too permissive normalising things that only a few years ago would have had us up in arms. Peopel are jaded to the extent that sadly we'll over get to see some humanity when something cataclysmic befalls us as a collective (no this does not include Cullen's budget).
I ahve to agrree with youu regarind the type so fmigrants we introduce int o the country but taht's what happens when we throw our lot in with the global community. Persaonl experiences aside it is hard to trust when you have a few people who will of course do things that will taint those who are trying to assimilate (in my estimation one or two on the news does not equate the hundred or more that are trying and are not doing as these little idiots did at my place. |

The challenge Mary is not to let it feed your fear...thus your anger making you a little less the person you should be. In that respect they have served to spread their negativity and taken something away from you that you would have otherwise shared in positivity with someone in your family or other more to the point a perosn of simlar background to the scum you wrote about who probably would only need a gentle nudge (not outrageous to state possibly life altering) to change course and perhaps you've done something but with a positive outcome. Stealing something from your previous post...the chance to rise above.
The human condition I'm afraid tells me that we will never ealise a utopia in this life or existence. This planet's a proving ground from where I'm standing ha ha |

| Yep same here Rufjak, I too live rural, also have rung the police and they never turned up. Actually I am still waiting. The Neighbours sheep got out on to the road at night, the cops were soon here then. |

If any intruder broke the line and entered my house i,d sure act to defend my family, ringing the coppers is out as it would take too much time.
In all reallity it would take too long to get the weapons out so i,d have to deal to them in others ways which i basically have at the ready, so for their sake i hope it never happens. |

| well strangest thing, had a boy racer problem [like 20 cars, and off-your-face hooning young crowd] - racing, drifting, wheelies, diesel ON THE ROAD - deadly stuff - esp in the morning on a bike - slick as diesel/dew. Called the police - didnt come [rang back and said helllllooooo????? drunken children racing here - but they only had one car - couldnt come.]When a police person moved in up the road -presto. problem gone. sorted in a week and havent seen them since. |

Hey Busy,
I'd like to think I could shoot an intruder, but I remember long ago going deer hunting. I had a deer in my sights about 20 yards away, but I could not bring myself to pull the trigger. The deer walked away! Not sure how I'd go with a human? |

| There was a woman on the John Campbell show last night talking about some lazy assed hunters in the Wairarapa area letting their pig dogs kill her pet pigs. After having had the police do their nanny bit and fail, and after posting notices on vehicles[which were ignored] she has now purchased a rifle to fix the problem herself. The pity of it all is, she is going to shoot the dogs because of the dumb lazy hunters; and I hope she bags the lot. Then watch the nanny cops take some added interest. |

Have been in a serious home invasion situation and Yes, I would have shot the bast.ard if I had a gun handy. Threatened the life of my kids and did $5k damage to the house - all because we rented a house on land that his great grandfather sold over 100 years ago.
Cops were fantastic and the law worked in this case, but I tell ya, if I'd been able to get to the gun, it would have been me behind bars for defending my family. |

I was in the shower and when got out some s**tbags had broken in. Three of them gapped it but I got one and the cops came real quick. They got the others later that day and apart form a broken window I lost nothing.
The cops phoned me a couple of months after when court had finished and three of the four got sent to jail and the cop seemed happy and surprised by this and mumble something discreatly about judges hardly ever sending people to prison until theyve done loads of burglaries. There lies the problem I guess. I know everyone bags the cops on here but I think they are great and have a s**t job. |

| many years ago i had an armed robbery in my business[large knife,machete].i walked out with a gun[at the time unloaded and with no bolt as i was cleaning it having just been hunting] needless to say knife dropped robber takes off. police arrive[knew them well] they tell me shootthe $$$$$%^ meake sure he dead then putshotin ceiling and say you fired warning and he kept coming. thats what youll getif you break into my place if family home. |
