| If I had a gun, and they were trying to take what is rightfully mine, why not?? It seems to me that the Police would never have enough time to get to the intrusion in time so why shouldn't we protect what is ours?? Maybe firing above their heads, but definitely giving them the message!!! |

| the only problem with your dog idea is that now the law says if your dog is menacing someone, barking, etc it can be taken away and put down!!! nice reward for doing its job. no one is bashing the police, it is the ridiculous justice system and stupid govt. |

| Too right I would shoot! With the propensity for the nutters to be on drugs, a warning would be ignored. Too bad I don't own a firearm though. Friends in the US advise that they are permitted to defend themselves with their bedside handgun. Why not here? |

| You say "not guilty verdicts" like the courts got it wrong. I take it you thought they were all guilty anyway. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty. Remember they were all tried by a jury of their peers. |

The present government should be the ones we shoot- for invading our rights (the right to live our lives without fear). These days everyone has to bend over backwards to avoid doing any sort of harm to the low-life scum who threaten our quality of life. The same scum who have more rights than the rest of us do.
Oh-and shoot the lawyers who have hi-jacked society and taken away all common sense for their own profit.
But as for shooting the scum-definitely- protect your own property any way you can. You come in my house you take the risk that i catch you and 'immobilise' you. I see that as my right- and you lost yours when you sneaked into my house, usually under the cover of darkness. |

isn't it shocking how the world has become dishonest, i remember as a child you never had to lock your home, you could actually walk down the street and feel safe, i say to all intruding little theives, go get a job and pay for your goods the honest way |

| The thing about this matter is being able to access the situation ,...but if some one has entered your house with a firearm you have to think that only the worse is going to happen to you and your family .Self defense is the only action to take .What ever that takes .Even leathal force |

I was stalked for a long time, he used to watch me get into my car, continually hid in the bushes and watched me day and night. Real scary stuff! Then one night when I went out at 10pm at night he broke into my house and waited for me when I arrived home at 1am with my Rottweiler and he was hiding behind my spare bedroom door with a shower hose attachment! My Rottweiler at the time alerted me that someone was in the house and I just knew it was him!
I was absolutely petrified but I soon got angry and asked him in no uncertain terms why he was in my house! He made up some bull dust story, I jumped on the phone to police which were super quick although when you are in that situation it seems like a life time! This guy waited in my house until the police arrived. My dog was nutting off at him but he walked out of the spare room and entered my bedroom and sat on my bed! He could have jump out the nearest window but no? If it wasn't for my Rottweiler this may have been quite a different story? So after this guy went to Court and I had to stand up and testify in front of him, and he was slapped over the knuckles for being a naughty boy and convicted of a lesser offence, he was still taking wood off my wood pile and trying to wrench my bathroom window open in the early hours of most mornings! This is after he had been convicted! Unbelievable! When I was in Court sitting next to the Police Office dealing with the case, I passed a comment and said "If I had a 44 Magnum, I would shoot the Bas*@$#d! The policeman then replied to me that he didn't hear me say that? With the sick laws today, if my dog had bitten him, I probably would be convicted and have to have my dog put down and he could have claimed ACC? Is that sick or what? We have to be able to protect ourselves and our homes not get done for it!
Now I have 3 Rottweilers living inside, so good luck to anybody that is keen to break in again! If they want to put my dogs down I will fight for my rights! |

| Yes, I would shoot a burglar if they were in my house and it was self defense. I would also warn one (and then shoot if necessary) who was attempting to get into my house or was on my section and a danger to me or my family. I have heard of people being shot overseas (in the USA of course) for knocking on doors asking for directions because they were deaf or "the wrong colour" and the home owner perceived something other than reality so obviously it would pay to be cautious and identify your target and the level of threat. Shooting someone in the back who is already running away is not justifiable in my opinion. |
