The critical importance of intention Reply to this message
This subject is prehaps of massive importance and should put the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons. For example.1, what is the intention of individuals who refuse to believe in a God or unknowable universal force?.2 what is the intention of individuals who cause division in our world?.3,what is the intention of fundamentalist Christianity and fundamentalist Islam?.4 what is the intention of our current business, political, educat ion systems etc etc etc etc. Oh and by the way my intention for putting this post up is to bring this valuable concept to everyones attention so that they can apply it in their everyday lifes and prehaps start asking others and themselves some hard questions.

Re:The critical importance of intention Reply to this message
Excellent stuff Greg. If people start looking deeper into every aspect of our society and take more responsibility for their choices we would not get hoodwinked as easily. Though of course governments around the world will now unashamedly totally ignore democracy [app the wishes of the majority of people] when it suits them, just look at the Iraq war.

Re:The critical importance of intention Reply to this message
The intention of our political leaders is often to protect the status quo and get power at all costs no matter how much they have to lie and destroy. And the intention of our current political systems is to encourage those individuals with a self serving agenda to become politicians and to debar or make it as difficult as possible for those individuals who would wish to change the status quo and bring real change.

Re:The critical importance of intention Reply to this message
I love this post Greg, are you a psychologist?. Yes the critical importance of intention is a fascinating subject. But I think that sadly prehaps most people today find it to hard to give much detailed thought to anything other than money, food, sex and generally getting by. But having said that,I think that we can no longer get away with that attitude and the fact is the world would be a much safer, fairer and happier place if people started taking full responsibility for their choices. It is a fundamental human failing that us humans often like to pass the buck and say its someone elses problem or that our politicians, business leaders, justice system etc etc will sort it out and we just stick our collective heads in the sand. Bottom line is we need to examine in detail the intention of our representatives at all levels.

Ah the critical importance of Intention. Good subject.Fact - The intention of all the basic [unmisinterpreted/abused] teachings of all of Gods manifestations [Christ ,Buddha,Muhammed,Baha'u'l lah etc]has been AND EVER WILL BE to bring peace, understanding, true justice, unity, protection for the weak and innocent of all colours and creeds. Fact - any individual/system/church/ business/political agenda that has a problem with any of the above sentiments should be weeded out of our world.

Each to their own xav. Its all about opinions and unfortunately a lot of people today have been dumbed down so much that they fine anything that rises above the usual banality rather taxing.

Re:The critical importance of intention Reply to this message
What is the intention, of your intention???
Fundamentalism, or christianism and Islamic prophecy or heresy is open to subjectivism, or is idealism another strategy? Moreover it is actually the intention of education in its basic form to teach, learn and you may gain more knowledge, deny or hide and you could possibly remain in the dark??

Answer the hard questions yourself, as choice like anything else based on moral principles has nothing to do with anyone else other than the person or people who CHOOSE TO BELIEVE in a religious ethos.

Freedoms, basic human principles, so hey make of this what you will, interpret how you see fit, add it up and than go figure, EUCLID??????? PAI MARIRE. :( or :)!!!!!

Re:The critical importance of intention Reply to this message
If you look a bit closer at the intention of a lot of posters on these boards you will fined their intention is to cause confusion and generally destroy constructive debate and healty consultation which allows us to reach the truth of the matter in hand. The very same thing happens in world politics/law etc etc. The fact of the matter is that people need to start taking responsibility for their decisions and look closer at the intention of our current systems be they local and world politics/religion/big business/financial system/education etc etc as to a greater or lesser extent they are corrupt, compromised, pract ise inequality, favouritism and fear the light of real truth and justice being shone on them.

Re:The critical importance of intention Reply to this message
Yes the intention of a lot of powerful world leaders/business men etc etc is to remain rich and powerful at all costs,no matter what the damage to the majority. This must change and the longer it takes to change the more damage will be done to our planet and the majority of its people. And as has been said by prominent psychoanlysis Erich Fromm and harvard sociologist Daniel Bell,Mankind has no future unless it acquires a new religious consciousness.

Re:The critical importance of intention Reply to this message
The intention of materialism is always to get more. The really big Businesses around the world are not content unless prophets are up. Whats wrong with just making a nice living rather than always needing more and better.

Re:The critical importance of intention Reply to this message
1. What is the intention of individuals who refuse to believe in a God or unknowable universal force?

- They don't have an intention, they just don't believe and in some cases, their egos get in the way of letting others believe what they want (This last part of course, applies to believers as well)

2. What is the intention of individuals who cause division in our world?

Mostly I'd say profits, they're selfish enough to pursue things that divide us, to the detriment of us all. Otherwise it's ignorance and arrogance (eg. Racists)

3. What is the intention of fundamentalist Christianity and fundamentalist Islam?

I think that they are trying to give glory to God, and to MAKE us give the same. (They want peace, both of them, but are willing to go to ANY means to achieve it)

4. What is the intention of our current business, political, education systems ect.

I'mma split this one into 3.

Business - It certainly isn't to make sure everyone gets rich.
Political - It isn't to make sure we all have power.
Education - I'm not too sure what to say about this one, but hey, it educated me just fine.

Hi me_odie,greg .Love the comment me_odie"geez that place is a mess"lol. Just like the real political world methinks. I think if we introduce this intention concept to the real world of politics, religion, big business etce ctetc.a lot of people would start running for cover as they began to be expose for what they really are.

Re:The critical importance of intention Reply to this message
The critical importance of intention really sums up what we need as a race to get through the times ahead. If we as a race do not use this formula in every aspect of our society from our politics to our financial systems to our religious beliefs we our going to take some mighty hits until we learn to use this simple formula.

Re:The critical importance of intention Reply to this message
Good call Finn.Yes in the next existence there will be nowhwere to hide from our deeds. As you say the intention of our deeds in this life will be layed bare,so yeah you will indeed reap what you sow. And that will be of course be a tough issue for Believers and non believers alike. So it then becomes clear why some people are so against the possibility of an afterlife. And what a useless waste of time this existence would be without progression ,it just does not make sense that this struggle and chaos would be all there is. The God theory actually makes a lot more sense.
