Truth verses falsehood Reply to this message
Verifiable truth is independent of how one might "feel" about it, which is irrelevant, personal, and basically narcissistic and biased.

Re:Truth verses falsehood Reply to this message
The "Truth will set you free" is a warmly accepted concept by the integrous, but to the non integrous, truth is a danger and an enemy that threatens their whole position.

Re:Truth verses falsehood Reply to this message
Truth surely is purely subjective. What may be truth to one could easily be a falsehood to another. In essence there is no truth, there is only the purpose of learning. Falsehood is dictated by the amount of learning and knowledge currently held by an individual.

"What may be truth to one could easily be a falsehood to another."

this applies only when the truth is percieved, surely. If something is demonstratably true, then its a constant and whenever, where ever its demonstrated, the outcome is the same.

Re:Truth verses falsehood Reply to this message
But that is what 'truth' is, merely a perception. A human notion that something is completely as it seems, demonstrated by same outcomes and the fact it appears to be constant. My best example is time. Constant, demonstratably true, never possible is a 'same outcome' in the context of ever flowing time, but my point is-it is an entirely individual human experience that one has with time. Our perception of it, our own. What we have experienced and come to learn of it, that is the affirmation and truth what time is, has been and will be for us.

Re:Truth verses falsehood Reply to this message
Your not defining truth at all bobnet

because we don't have an actual fact you want to have demonstrated to you.

what you do have is a theoretic thesis on truth..

two distinct definitions..

For instance if the truth to be demonstrated is dogs are a breed apart from cows. Or borax destroys your oesophagus if you concoct a deadly liquid potion made with an entire packet of borax..

Perception would be pretty consistent as to what is true and what is false ...

right?

Remember we are discussing actual... evidential realities to be proved as opposed to theorising on comparative perceptions.

Re:Truth verses falsehood Reply to this message
I've posted this before but I think it's fairly accurate..

The poet Steve Turner wrote a brilliant parody of this attitude and called it "Creed".
Part of it goes like this:

I believe that each man must find the truth that is right for him.
Reality will adapt accordingly.
The universe will readjust.
History will alter.
I believe that there is no absolute truth excepting the truth that there is no absolute truth.
