During his testimony to the Peel Commission, Jabotinsky rationalized the necessity for a Jewish homeland on both banks of the Jordan River not by citing historic rights, but by the need to rescue Europe's Jews from extermination (while taking into account the population density that would have resulted in the late 1930s in relation to the number of Jews in Europe).
The Jews' historic right justified their choice of the Land of Israel as the place to realize their self-determination. But that right has never justified Jewish sovereignty over all the Land of Israel. The Zionist movement accepted this truth at every important stage of its history. After the persecution of the Jews reached its peak in the 1940s, Zionism had the justification to actualize its right to self-determination immediately. It is no wonder then that Israel's attempt to turn this historic right into the basis for demands more than 60 years after the persecution of the Jews - all while continuing its cruelty and abuse of the Palestinians - endangers both world peace and Israel's moral standing.
Arens' claim that "the right of Jews to live in Judea and Samaria is a basic principle not subject to negotiations" has only managed to persuade the Israeli right, which has also misinterpreted the views of its spiritual leader. But it fails to convince other Israelis, Obama and the world. From Israel's standpoint, this view not only endangers the future, but also the past. |

| Arens and the right wing in general believe that the settlements are legitimate because the Jews' historic right to the Land of Israel serves as the basis for the right to exercise sovereignty over all the land. Yet even Arens' ideological forefather, Ze'ev Jabotinsky, did not think so. As Prof. Gideon Shimoni has noted, Jabotinsky wrote that if the Jews felt they had enough land, they wouldn't need to rely on historic rights. |

| Much of Israel proper is unsettled therefore the need for settlements on Palestinian territory is unnecessary and in conflict with Jabotinsky's statement.Either they follow their spiritual leader or they don't. |

inbound... 1948 is just over half a century ago and I can record millions of Israelites being killed by other nations. Todays acts against Israel is the same back then... The only difference is they have learnt to defend themselves through their slaughtered ancestors...
"International Law" remember its a mans law and its a changeable law and it has been changed in the past...

| Smack...you play the religious idealism card which is like asking those who don't believe in your faith to believe in Goldilocks and the Three bears. Your faith is pertinent only to you. Todays trouble in Palestine is a consequence of what Jabotinsky and David Ben Gurion embarked on pre 1948 when they, and the other European Zionists who came with them embarked on the forced creation of an Israeli State in Arab territory. From the onset the villages they built in the midst of Arabs were jewish exclusive and Arabs were forcibly deterred and attacked when they attempted to enter. Jabotinsky and David Ben Gurion embarked on a policy whereby, by any means at their disposal, even if it meant killing Arabs ,they would push Arabs out of the area they wanted to claim as Israel. It is those actions and that attitude that continues to cause friction. You can claim your God's Law as being the only law but it will not help solve the current issues because Israels issues are based on greed and a pipe dream that only they believe in. Cling to Goldilocks and the Three bears if you want but International Law is what speaks and Israel signed up to that. If Israel does not abide by those laws then in a nutshell you are saying your God and its people are dishonest and common theieves. That you cannot be trusted and that agreements you sign mean nothing....is this what you are telling us...the World? |

XTR.SMOOTH....I take what you both say with a pinch of salt given your own loose grip. All I have said is the truth about what Israel is about. Why should I care about a nation of people who are more interested in themselvres than others. Who lie,cheat and steal. Who torture and murder and who then claim they are nice people. Give me one good reason why I should like and support them? Anyone who decides to elevate themselves at thew expense of others who does not see the error in their judgement and actions when it is pointed out to them and who argues in circles for 41 years about being under threat from neighbours when they themselves are the root cause does not deserve support or respect and ...yes....they would save us a lot of unnecessary garbage if they took themselves out. I have no problem in them attacking Iran. Everyone has told them it won't work and that it is suicidal...so let them do it! Iran will survive but every neighbour of Israel will attack it and it won't survive....then we will all get some peace.
HERE IS MY ORIGINAL REPLY TO xtr....I have repeatedly stated this position to him many times since. XTR has comprehension problems and thinks if he reinterprets my words to suit his own agenda then it somehow makes him a winner....it does not....it makes him a loser....where have I said I hate jews. They disgust me...yes....I dislike their behaviour yes. Can I stop them personally from doing what they are...no. So at the end of the day is allowing them to recieve the consequences of their own actions and am happy for them to do that. I cannot change them but I can change how I react. Why on earth should I care about them when they do not care about themselves....if they cared about themselves they would listen and act on Obamas plan instead of ducking and diving. |

Israel has ,as I said, and obligation to keep its word in accordance with documents it has signed and agreed to honour. Therefore I state again...are you saying your God is a dishonest God and that your God approves of liars and untrustworthy people.....if you are stating contrary to that then why is Israel having such a problem delivering on its agreed obligations. |
