| LD...Hamas was trying to negotiate a truce when Israel launched Cast Lead and killed and injured thousands of innocent civilians and Olmert ignored the request. Cast lead was two years in the planning. All the while Israel was saying it wanted peace...yeah right. Wipe the spit off your chin LD. |

Banks use the ministry's formula to calculate how much money can be lent to a family, based on the number of children, the time the parents spent in the army, their immigration status and the region where the home is located.
This means, for example, that a family of five can receive a mortgage of NIS 244,020 in the Itamar settlement, located southeast of Nablus and some 28 km. over the 1949-1967 armistice line, but in Ashkelon the formula awards the family a mortgage of NIS 223,620.
The additional NIS 20,400 is one of the last vestiges of a system of grants and tax breaks eliminated under prime minister Ariel Sharon, through which the state encouraged people to choose homes in the settlements over those in the center of the country.
But while grants and tax breaks for settlements are no longer available, some settlements remain on the preferential status lists within different ministries. As a result their residents, along with those of any community on the preferential status list, are eligible for a special loan conditions.
Peace Now, in its June report on the 2009-2010 draft state budget, took issue with the practice. Hagit Ofran said a better loan deal for purchasing a home in the settlements was a type of incentive. |

A few days ago the state filed a brief with the court informing it that plans to move the settlers to the West Bank settlement of Adam were making headway but that it would still take an estimated two or three years before their new homes would be ready.
The agreement to move the settlers to Adam was reached between the Defense Ministry and the settlement leadership. However, the Migron residents themselves have declared that they will not leave the outpost despite the agreement .
Peace Now and the Palestinians, represented by attorneys Michael Sfard and Shlomy Zecharya filed the petition in 2006, demanding that the civil administration implement orders it issued to demolish the buildings in Migron because they had been built illegally.
Israel allows this knowing it impairs peace and knowing it is in violation of its previous agreements it signed under the Road Map 2003 re Settlement freeze including natural growth. Israel is deliberately placing an obstacle to peace. |

Two IDF soldiers were arrested Sunday night on suspicion that they raped two female soldiers over the weekend, Army Radio reported.
The female soldiers said that they came to one of the male soldiers' home, and that the two men, members of the Golani infantry brigade, spiked their drinks and then raped them. The two soldiers denied the allegations, saying that while there had been sexual relations, they happened with consent.

| Old news LD...I posted that....it is what Biden does not say in that statement. On the Israel sites it is clarified a little more and Biuden says attacking Iran is not their policy which means Israel will be on its own. It cannot get the stealth jets it hoped for from the US so for Israeli pilots it will be a Kamikaze run with no chance of taking it all out. The retaliatory strikes from Iran will kill tens of thousands of Israeli civilians and for what....an unsuccessful mission. If you support that you have to be nuts. |
