The folly of Netanyahu has been in portraying the American President as an enemy of Israel, and this can be the first step to the prime minister's downfall. Sober Israelis know full well that Israel needs the U.S. much more than the U.S. needs Israel. His posturing, stalling tactics, confrontational rhetoric, and double-speak, at some point in time, will wear down the patience of all the players who are familiar with these tactics. Israel cannot stand alone in the Middle East, regardless of its achievements; there is pressure from the EU as well and a suspension of 'enhanced relations' with Israel until it shows some serious effort in the peace process. Both Egypt and Saudi Arabia have accused Israel of being the unwilling partner and the obstacle to peace.
As Ha'aretz put it so well:
Netanyahu believes Obama sought to cool ties with Israel in order to improve the United States' image in the Arab world, an image harmed during the George W. Bush presidency. Yet even if this assessment is correct, Netanyahu acted against Israel's interest by harshly criticising and insulting the president's Jewish advisers and by needlessly provoking Obama over the issue of construction in East Jerusalem. Obama, too, has made mistakes, like ignoring Israeli public opinion. But the balance of power is unequal. Israel needs America more than America needs Israel, so Netanyahu must repair this relationship. |

Please be careful inbound is an old recovering addict. Who trys to expouse his problems with chemical addiction on to others. Trys to treat their problems,and without doubt leave them more screwed up than before. Simply because he is full of so much hatred and bitterness.I agree with you Muzza in what you have said he makes some reasonable points in some instances ,but then totally screws up with the Arabs are absolutely perfect,aand the Jews are absolutely terrible. He is a middle east legend in his own mind,and lives in a dellusional fairy land of everything will be ok once the middle east peace plan goes through. This is absolute rubbish because the mad arabs want to wipe out the Israelis and that is never going to happen without all the arabs that attack them being taken out. There is no soultion to this war it is governed by higher powers and will play out in the prescribed time just as the bible says it will. Anything Obama does or say wont make any difference the script is already written for the Middle East.The chosen people are Jewish whether Inbound likes it or not. |

| pae; I agree about the 10yr old drawing that picture;was sad. But pull your head out of your box of terrorist/commie tricks and realise that what he was doing was letting his emotions flow,expressing his grief. What that bus operator was doing was getting those other kids prepared to inflict grief on others and bring yet more horror to their own families in the future. Better those kids lives progress from the drawing stage and not be drawn into yet further situations of death and misery. |
