Iran isn't out to nuke Israel, nor is it out to control the Middle East. It couldn't even if it wanted to, even if it had nuclear weapons. For starters, Israel and Pakistan have nukes, so does China and so, for that matter, do the United States and Russia. Even at the height of their rivalry during the Cold War, the Soviet Union and the United States tried to control the Middle East but proved comically (and more often tragically) incapable. The United States repeated the attempt as the sole superpower and failed rather miserably. A tertiary power such as Iran isnt about to best its predecessors in delusion.
Iran wants to be a regional power, wielding influence where it can and even flexing its muscles by proxy through its clients (Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in south Lebanon, Shiite militias in Iraq). But, as Barack Obama must know (and his approaches toward Iran bear this out), Irans power through these clients is limited. Hamas is an essentially Palestinian force, and more to the point, a Sunni Muslim force. Its long-term interests are neither with Iran nor with a Shiite Islamic agenda.
Nor, incidentally, is Hamas near- or long-term interest remotely connected to the potential for an Iranian nuclear strike on Israel. Distasteful and absurd as such calculations may be, such a strike would, by dint of geography, almost inevitably wipe out as many, or more, Arabs as it would Jews. (Remember: more than a fifth of the population in Israel proper is Arab, and some 5 million Palestinians rim Israel in occupied territories too close to avoid either a direct hit or the devastation from a nuclear strike.) |

I understand with kiwipat or was it geofreak? (can't be bothered looking it up lol) that started the anti-Hamas thread?) I kinda understand him being P!ssed @ us for making a vigilant stand for Palestine. But the others?
Personally I think it's the same handful of H 1.. woodworms.

The MIG 29, developed by the soviets in the 1970s, is one of the best fighter jets used by eastern and Arab countries, as well as by Syria and Iran. It was developed to counter American-made jets such the F-16 or F/A-18.
The jets were loaned to Israel by an unnamed foreign country. The experiment is meant to prepare IAF pilots for missions where they might have to fight a foreign air-force.
"We tested them - we trained the IAF pilots against them," an unnamed IAF official said.

The IAF employs ten test pilots. The training of each costs about a million dollars, but the experience gleaned from the test pilots, the unnamed official said, "is priceless."

A test jet is just like a regular one, except for special sensors which cover literally every aspect of its mechanical and electronic systems and can be monitored from the ground for assessment.
An additional experiment conducted recently by the air force involved loading an F-16 with weapons to its utmost capacity, or "flight in a heavy formation," as the test pilot labeled it. The experiment was meant to measure the pilot's safety and the fighter's capability when it was carrying the maximum amount of armaments.

| SmoothSailing.....they can experiment all they want....they won't be coming back. With heavily laden planes they will be slower, less manoeuvreable, easier targets no matter what tricks they have learnt and with the batteries of anti aircraft missiles awaiting them it is doubtful few will return home. When they return they will have unleashed the worst missile shower Israel has ever faced and Iron Dome currently is not operative so many Israeli's will die. Arab States will attack Israel and Israel will cease to exist nukes or not. Why do you think everyone is advising Israel against attacking. Make whatever accusations you want Smooth but you are as crazy as the Israeli Government thinking America will help them. |

| Many Arab states are supporting Israel on Iran infact they told Obamas representative to pull his head in on Iran. That he could not link Iran and the Palestinian situation together. A real slap in the face for the Obama clan ,and a great boost for Israel from other Arab states so you are wrong again Inbound. Get a bit more sleep you may think more clearly. | Israel is standing completely on its own. Its current antics impress no-one other than the mentally infirm. Anyone who thinks America is going to idly stand by while a loose cannon jeopardizes the safety of its troops in Afghanistan and Iraq are sorely mistaken. America will block any attempt Israel makes....not that we will hear about it. |

| Smooth catch up with the news....Israel has complied with Americas demand...just like they will comply with the Two State Peace Plan. Arab States do not support attacking Iran for obvious reasons. It will set the Middle East on fire and if you think I have got it wrong then that is you who is not reading correctly. Arabs want a tougher line taken on Israel and stronger sanctions on Iran. |

| If Israel attacks, the entire Middle East could turn against it. I would not rule out that even Ankara, Turkey, would side with Tehran. Erdogan would not order his country’s military to carry out strikes against Israel, but he could very well declare a war of words. And let’s not even mention Arab peoples. Most Arab rulers have no sympathy for Iran. They’ll quietly thank God Israel destroyed the country’s nuclear facilities. Publicly, however, they will have to rail against the Jewish nation-state, calling it anti-Muslim, and dictatorial. If they do not, their people will turn against them. |

| sailaway should know its not the arabs states trying to tie the iranian question in with the peace plans, its israel trying to stall by demanding the iranian nuke threat is addressed as part of the talks. Its a stalling tactic and its not working. |

If you think the recession is getting bad just think what a petroleum shortage will do to the World economy. | You should also take note that Obama has pulled back ALL aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf so Iran can clearly see the US is not involved in any attack. It is the first time in decades that carriers have not been in the Persian Gulf. America will not support Israel and Israel cannot and will not succeed on its own....it is not Iraq or Syria. They have lost the element of surprise as their defense in Iran is on full alert. So Israel has to go in being targetted from the moment it is in range. F-16 are clearly visible on radar...no stealth. |
