Time for a new perception of God Reply to this message
logic suggests that there is a universal God force of some unimaginable kind and because many cannot not comprehend this God they do not believe. So its all about perception. I think we as a race have been approaching the concept of God from completely the wrong direction. Prehaps 100 years ago 80 years ago whatever, the old approach was more appropriate. But now we are more sophisticated and are thus ready for a more sophisticated approach to the God issue. For example has anyone thought about the possibility of biblical sayings like "you reap what you sow" actually being old speak for a mathematical equation . This God is not a God of judgement but a God that put this existence into motion with its mixture of mathematical equations and chance happenings. When sceince and religion work as one this is what we can begin to see.

Perhaps we will one day find out he came and left in a chariot of "fire"

Mathematically, its a possibility.

First you have to debunk and ignore all the old rubbish, then look at the whole idea of God afresh.

As the comedian David Allen used to end his show with..

" may your God go with you"

God is a personal journey...an intimate relationship...defined in personal terms and personal needs at the time and after...trying to develop a theory of 'one size fits all' as system seems to propose is impossible.

If your God meets your needs...is that not enough?

Logic suggests????

Logic suggests an unknowable entity with unknowable boundaries on his/her/its unknowlable powers is a logical contradiction.

Re:Time for a new perception of God Reply to this message
Children by the age of four are extremely adept at logical thought. Funny how none of them arrive at a logical conclusion of a God until adults fill their heads with rubbish like easter bunnies, Father Xmas, the Tooth fairy and God. These fanatsies make childhood fun but they remain childish fantasies.

Theologians have for centuries been trying to prove the existence. They never use formal logic to do so and always arrive back at "belief".

In some ways I endorse the original post - believe what you like but don't ask me to believe it.Unfortunately that isn't the way the Christian world works. As more and more happy-clappies endorse creationism and turn their backs on logic and science, we march into slavery with our eyes open.

Re:Time for a new perception of God Reply to this message
Why does "perception of God" have to be universal?.
Can it not be an individual perception?.

Hi jeff.allan .One of the main principles of the Baha'i faith is the unity of Science and Religion which makes more and more sense to me with every passing day of this existence.

What evidence is there that Religion can be so tolerant that it accepts the findings of Science? So far this has not happened.

I would be happy for people to believe whatever they want as long as they don't expect others to follow them.
That is the trouble with christianity. it never shuts up.

b c --- can't shut up. Got a job to finish.

Matt.24
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

jj- there are new occupants in your heart. Oh, did I not tell you the original occupant brought 6 others with him? Get rid of these occupations now and perhaps the prayers will work. Still praying for you though. Wasted effort but still keeping you in my prayers.

Re:Time for a new perception of God Reply to this message
jj.. sure assured I will continue to remember you in my prayers.
Remember the story of Lot? God saved Lot because He remembered Abraham who was praying for his nephew living in that sinful twin city.
Hope God remembers my prayers and when there is still time, He grabs your arms and say come.

Oh yeah I rememeber that. I saw a documentary recently about *** and Gomorrah, there is a major fault line there, the Jordan Rift Valley. They speculated the cities could have been destroyed by earthquake... interesting stuff

Re:Time for a new perception of God Reply to this message
jj- could be oil down underneath the cities and they did burn. Lot's wife turned to a pillar of salt, because she looked back. Disobeyed God's warning not too.
Oh, we never heed the warnings even though we are told about them.

Re:Time for a new perception of God Reply to this message
jj- but think of their sinful nature. God would have not destroyed these twin cities if there were 10 righteous persons. They even demanded Lot to hand over the 2 angels for a night of fun.
