Obama will end up listening to radical advice as he doesn't have the long experience needed in US politics to run a big and powerful country. It is not the President who runs that country, it is the money people.

"Because of what we did, on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America"..what an absolutely fabulous, fabulous, inspirational speech from the new President elect of the USA...Barak Obama...oh that we had that kind of inspirational leadership in New Zealand!!

I'm a white, middle class, middle aged Kiwi. The election of Barack Obama as US President is by far the best political event that has occurred in my entire life.

His election will have a very positive effect on the entire planet - including New Zealand. Wonderful stuff !!

taff - if, as you say, it is the money people who run America what does it matter what advice Obama listens too? Considering the mess America is in today after so called conservatives have been running the country perhaps radical advice might be what is needed.

Re:the first black president... Reply to this message
yeah, you can see the change on peoples faces already and hear it in their voices, finally we have someone who has a positive take and good values in a prominent position. Make no doubt about it, this guy is swicthed on, a law graduate of Havard and heavily involved in politics most of his adult life this guy will make a difference and no doubt ruffle a few feathers along the way. On the issue of him getting taken out...well, my thoughts are if that were to happen it would cause massive civil unrest in the US bordering on an uprising.
People are sick and tired of the upper class fraternity boys club furnishing their own pockets.

I agree, if he were assasinated there would be outright anarchy in the streets, LA riots would look like childs play.

Re:the first black president... Reply to this message
I don't think that there would be anarchy in the streets, against who? the la riots had a specific victim and target, they were the result of an event yes but it was a crime commited by an athority (LAPD) in front of their eyes. if he was assasinated it would atleast appear to be a single gunman on the lunatic fringe, the nation would morn as they have done before and bidden would step up.

in terms of his colour, i don't see what diference it makes apart from easing some percieved race tension. a black person is capable of doing as good a job as a white/brown/red/yellow person. they are also just as capable of stuffing it up?

in terms of this being a great thing for the world, well like Obama said him self: 'this is only the chance', even he is unwilling to claim such things (and wisely too). any change of government would(hopefully) be beneficial from the last but because of the constitution there was always going to be a change this time around so the world should really be saying: 'gee i hope they made the right decision for everyone'

i voted for obama (was very hard to do from over here) and i am glad that he won but i do think that mccain would have also brought change and done a better job then is currently being done... the risk was really if he croaked and palin took over, holy S%$t that would be bad! obama has my support but i and everyone else will have to wait the next few years to see if he deserves it, thats the just the way it works ;)

Re:the first black president... Reply to this message
DR, I agree the riots were specific but this is different, he has united people around the world but race still plays a big part and even if a lone gunman takes him out, his racial background regardless of whether it is black/white/yellow or red will come into play and fingers will be pointed and unrest will no doubt come about.

Obama is just another puppet on a string.

Sure he will make a few minor changes (give and take) but the NWO agenda will stay on course.

Obama is CFR and Trilateral, and he has ties to the Bilderburg group. NOT good.

Peace

Re:the first black president... Reply to this message
The only good thing that has come out of Bushs time in office is the legislation that has provided for Obama to put in place or effect the things that need or should be done if they are faced with anyhting that could even suggest a threat to him or his admin.

Organised hate groups could be hauled in under anti-terror lwas in that country if they suspect that a plot is at hand and judging by the abilty to pick up the insignificant low-lives that were planning to kill blacks and make an attempt on Obama during the election rallies just goes to show that the Secret Service (amongst other security/intelligence arms) will not make it easy.

If what you're suggesting happens it will have to be an inside job to that end there is still some of the old guard in the house which will not be so easly open to change and will certainly desert their values and beliefs as their ignorance and bigotry get the better of them.

Like any country I think the single most important thing is education. I mean c'mon McCain looked disappointed at the booing when he talked about Obama. If McCain had run his campaign as he did in his concession speech and chosen someone of simlar ilk to say Obama or Joe Biden all he would have had to do was be himself and not listen to the bad advice he was obviuosly getting from his campaign team. It certainly would have made it a little tighter.

Don't talk about assassination. It only reveals your deep desire for mischief. Oh hang on we have those huge redneck states that were won by McCain...hmmmm. Oh well let's hope for the best.

Mohammed Bless Obama. LMFAO

Re:the first black president... Reply to this message
COLE, sorry when i spoke of his color i was only relating that specifically to his ability to rule not if it will play a role in an assasination. of course it will make him more of a target then a white president but we should all hope that firstly this scenario doesn't become a reality and secondly if an attempt is made the SS are good enough to stop it. if not there will be unrest but unrest is a completely different beast then rioting! (which is unklikely)

Barak Obama is a born leader, the whole world is happy with his appointment and I believe he's well aware of the danger he's in but the force field surrounding him built from the hopes, dreams and aspirations of people from all races will prevent that from happening....can he do it?? a resounding YES HE CAN!!!....All of the political leaders in New Zealand don't even appear on the leadership scale that measures Barak Obama..!!!

Re:the first black president... Reply to this message
I think he strikes a chord with people with his rhetoric, He's for the people by the people and you get the feeling he is actually genuine rather than someone who simply reads a dialogue from a script and has an agenda at hand. No doubt he will be up against it, just look at the state of America at the moment and time will tell if he can make good on his pre election speeches, not only has he got the pressure of the US on his shoulders but also a good portion of the world as well.
