Do you think that shooting the Bali bombers was a good idea?
Considering now they would be thought of as martyrs.
Should the executions just have been carried out THEN the world and families informed? |

| That's a really good point, but I don't think it would have mattered when the world was told about their execution, possibly leaving it till after they died may have given the opinion that the government was "scared" of the reaction of the country. Its a shame that some teach that a martyr is anyone that "kills for a cause" when the true meaning is actually to die rather than to renounce one's faith, or to suffer for one's faith (e.g. those that were burnt at the stake for translating the bible) - it never says one that kills - in most case that concept is not even taught in the religious books they say they follow. |

the hatred that has been aroused byt these events clearly illustartes the whole idea of to err is human to forgive divine.
Far be it form me to forgive the deed but more to mypoint is the dameg it does to people. I mean look at Augusts repsonse is that the response of an agry person? yes it is.
We are left behind to deal with the fallout and it is up to us to somehow deal with that hate or let it go before it damages us too.
They are martyrs to their ilk. Let's hope they do not become rolemodels. |

| Hate is a hard thing for people to let go of I suppose. Thankfully I didn't lose anyone in this terrible act (or any other) so I cannot speak for those that did. However I know what loss is, and I know what it's like when someone else is the reason for that loss. But harbouring anger and hate for someone in your heart only hurts you, never them. They deserved to die for thier actions and maybe now this will bring some closure to the ones who were affected. |

| putionz - Your attitude is very admirable and one that no doubt a lot of people would like to have the good grace to adopt, however, the barbaric nature of the original crime on this occasion perhaps far exceeds the rights of the offenders and they have received the appropriate penalty. Just an opinion. |

| jed and I agree. I like you believe justice has been served. My point was really to those of us left with the fallout and dealing with the same. we would like to see taht one day we could move on but after all this living I now that this will be on-going particualrly when you read that there are people saying they were righteous and doing the right thing. It makes your blood run cold doesnt it? |

| Things are done very differently in Indonesia. This is self evident. If these guys created this much death and destruction in NZ they would be sent to jail and released probably within 10 years. In Indo, they are dealt with in accordance with strict Indonesian Law. Also, Islamic burials must take place within 24 hours of death. That is the reason the families were notified prior to execution, to give them time to make the necessary religious arrangements. My thoughts are with the people of Bali. A more generous and gentle people you will never meet I can assure you. Their lives were turned upside down after the bombings. Now, after the sentences have been carried out, they fear retribution. |

no-one would argue the postives about the people of Bali. It leaves only one thing that could possibly explain these "exceptions". Religion? No! Fundamentalism? yes! The false prophets/witness/spiritua l guides that meld and twist words and those who live on the fringe are already imbued with some form of distaste that evnetuates into a mindless rage. I do not support Capital Punishment but harsher sentencing yes in NZ. |

| It sure does putionz. That was just one of those horrendous crimes where they would obviously be executed when they were caught - and on this occasion most people would no doubt agree with the punishment. The world will just have to deal with it irrespective of the eventual fall-out of riots, death and destruction that will probably occur. My thoughts are actually with the victims families rather than the offender. The decent people on the planet, who are the majority, simply cannot allow crimes of this nature to be committed without the severest of punishment. |

I understand your sentiment. However they had one of the wives on and she was saying that she would tell her shildren that their father was a good man and a hero. Thus I say again the baton is again handed on retribution and reprisal all because of Fear in this world. The blocks to us realising that all we have is each other and trying to work on that. |

| putionz - your last post certainly highlights the never-ending circle of grief, death and destruction that has been going on for a long time and will no doubt unfortunately continue. If only the magic formula existed to bring it all to an end - somehow I don't think it does. The minority extremists will always exist and the rest of us have no choice but to deal with them as we do - unfortunately for all sides and persuasions. |

Once again: Congratulations to the Indonesian Govt and Judiciary for their fortitude in executing the souless
and false (heretical) tyrants to their death for their
callous and false beliefs in carrying out their tyranny
against otherwise peaceful human beings: It is sad that
such judicial retribution will be not enacted against the same tyrinical killers of little Nia Glassie. Shame on you NZ.

as you can clearly see by MUDGE'S response, the fallout that heinous deeds that know no forgiveness will bring. This like all other events ring aloud around the globe. The world is becoming a smaller but our minds and heart do not tend naturally in the opposite direction because of Fear. |

| Good riddance to bad rubbish, unfortunately these scumbag low-lifes will be seen as martyrs in the eyes of all the other tyranical fundamentalist extremists out there and this justice will only spur them on to carry out more killing of innocent people. |

Interesting that so many bought up the point of forgiveness.
I wonder if we are too quick to demand(?) expect(?) require(?) forgiveness when individuals act with malice?
The victims of the Bali bombs and their families, I truely feel for.
To lose someone to a disease or accident is sad but you can sometimes find some way through the grief.
But the people who were killed in the Bali Bombings were tragically killed for ideals that most of them had understandings of.
I believe that those truely behind the bombings have not yet been brought to any kind of justice.
Those young men who were executed were those acting on what they had been led to believe was expected of them. They were wrong, carnage and killing never solves anything.
But the older more manipulative ones who set those events in motion have escaped. I like to think they may have escaped punishment in this realm but in another they will pay.
The other ones that stir my sympathy are the children and young relatives of those young men they have been given a horrendous example to follow. I hope they are smarter than their relatives. |

| Every suicide bomber and the likes of the bali 3 ,( who should have been executed promptly without publicity) should have been buried with a pig. That expectation would stop the suicides immediately. |
