I don't think he's a number 6 to date. McCullen should definitely be ahead of Franklin and probably Vittori aswell.
So Franklin needs to prove him self at an international level on a perfect batting track today. |

| Yeah Ryder plays with such a cool head. Watching him you'd swear he's very experience. But he has only played a handful of matches really. Hey I wonder if he can bring up his double century, or am I getting carried away now. haha |

| Renee,Macintosh are unproven at the test level,Oram are fragile and you never know when next he will break down again, the others on your list sound good though. |

Morning lads, haven't posted at all on the Cricket thread, spend what little time I have on the rugby thread, but am a huge cricket fan.
For whats it's worth, I'm as excited about the next 10 years of NZ cricket as I have ever been. Give it a couple of years for experience and confidance, but if we can get our top 7 on the field consistantly, fit and playing well we will have as good a batting line up as anyone in the world.
1. Guptil
2. MacIntosh
3. Flynn
4. Taylor
5. Ryder
6. Oram
7. McCullum
These guys all have the ability to score 100's, they all, other than maybe McIntosh, have the ability to take the game away from a team very quickly with quick scoring, and they all have the ablilty to average over 40, IMO the top 6 could all average over 45 if they apply themselves in coming years.
Now we just need a bowling line up to partner with Dan!!!
In regards to Moles, I don't think it matters whether he has played international cricket or not. Graham Henry only ever played senior club rugby but is one of the best rugby coaches in the world.
Rixon never reached any great heights in regards to his career but is one of the most successful NZ cricket coaches ever, and he managed to instil a winning, disaplined culture in the NZ team that had been missing at the time.
We can't judge Moles yet, its to early, although what I have seen and heard from him and the team looks blo.ody positive. |

Insider I never said he had a 'bad' technique. I said as an eye player he may not have the ability to adjust his game as required - plus I said good bowlers are quick to expose such types - but mate, he has proven me very wrong to date and I'm delighted.
More encouraging is how he has played with deft touch, nudges as well as his known power. That alone suggests we may have found a true act. |

palladin do you still think Jessie Ryder has a bad technique and has only been given a chance through lack of talented batsmen in New Zealand.
Aye mate ??? |

Two centuries in the last test and two in this the second test, beautiful centuries from first Ross Taylor and now Jessie Ryder. Finally us die hard NZ cricket fans have something to cheer for. Good stuff
Hopefully we can push on well into tomorrow and score close to 500 runs or more. |

You make a good point about Moles not having performed at an International level before. But it's a little to early to judge the man just yet, based on the team & his results. Many have gone before Moles and many have not delivered.
Some with better records than others.
We shouldn't forget the story of Brian McClennan when he was controversially appointed as the head coach of the kiwi rugby league team. He hadn't had top level experience either, and we all know he went on to take the kiwis to a series win over Australia. and that hadn't happened since 1978.
People are often to quick to judge.
Just a thought |

Moles is a journeyman ex county player.
How can he give advice or guidance on building a test innings, handling the pressure of tests?
We are the only international team without an international as coach.
Being dominated by the selectors now and prevoiusly bracewell, we lost a lot of good players early. If Fleming was still playing, alongside an aging Astle, guys like Guptill, Talyor, McIntosh and Ryder would have some mentors to learn from.
Moles should never be the coach. |

Andy Moles is only as good as his players really. I don't think all the blame should be put on his shoulders
India are the best so it aint gonna be easy for any team.
We should improve in the second test on thursday and we've been treated to some wonderful cricket from the Indian side.
Someone that truly understands the game will know that |

| Ambrose, Harbajan singh actually spins the ball,Vettori rely more on flight and subtle speeds and length,it is quite a very long time since Vettori actually spun a team out. |

| i agree alienmuse...andy moles is only relying on the pitch to be seaming...if nz cant win a test match on all types of surfaces then they are a team that rely to much on the type of wicket they play on...india have batsmen thaat are good at playing on seaming wickets...even if the wickets were green this time i doubt nz would have that much of an avantage....indias bolwing attack is much better than it was 6 years ago...i think that on a green pitch zaheer and sharma would cause way more destruction than nz expects....india will win the next 2 tests comforatbly.....they ahve no injury worries and every1 is fit and ready to go...differnt story for nz tho..... |
