actually singh you are wrong - vetorri is regarded by all top commentators as the best left arm othodox bowler around and a class act - mcgrath, lara, bradman were Greats...no doubt...
But to suggest vetorri is average 'at best' just tells me you have little knowledge of the game, the art of bowling .... |

Yes - he should be captain. He has the passion, work ethic, intelligence and commitment to the game.
Time and time again he has been the work horse for the team and put it admirable performance when the top order has collapsed. He has a team who are struggling with all the qualities above (just check out their performances in the IPL and who has one a "man of the match award"). We see glimpses of brilliance but no consistency.
If anything should go - it is the experimental selection process. Pick a team and stick with it for at least three
series to get then to gel. And keep Vettori as captain. |

How did Vettori become a "great cricketer" and 'One of our best" As some of you put it!
The facts don't lie. Vettori only averages 33 with the ball for godness sake, Cairns, Doull, Franklin, Oram, just to name a few with better averages, let alone the Hadlees, Bonds etc. Add that to the fact he averages 28 with the bat, again well below other all rounders such as Cairns, Oram and only just better than Sir Richard with the bat.
Vettori is good enough to be in our current New Zealand team, I don’t deny that but to say he is a great cricketer is just a load of rubbish. He is average at best! |

| I think that they should stick with vettori as captain, he is our most experienced test cricketer, and even if hes making mistakes as captain at the moment im sure he will improve, and i think its best we keep investing in him rather that throwing out that investmentment and starting from scratch with some one else. i remember when they were calling for fleming to be sacked as captain and look how he turned out in the long run. Bottom line is its a weak team so you cant just go calling for the skippers head and blaming the loses on him. Although i think he should step up and take more responsibility and bat at 6, hes our most experienced test batsman. Of the current players hes got the most test runs, by about 1000! Im sick of seeing him bat at 8 and either get out over the last few years trying to improvise to get runs while bating with bunnies, or being not out. hes batting low and blaming the top 6 when the team doesnt score enough runs he should man the up and bat at 6 and take some responsibility, rather than blaming the others, when he is the most experienced batsmen in the team by far. Batting below franklin is a joke. |

| If you you haven't noticed; take a look at ther selectors and chairman of NZ cricket next time you see them. They're all limping from the hole they shot through their feet when they got rid of Stephen Fleming. |

| No. You actually need players that go out and do the job, not get talked up in the media like their a purist of the game and they live and breathe it bla bla, a 1 day series loss and a test series loss, yes go on, india, their millionaires this and that, we almost beat aus, but we didn't, excuses excuses is all you ever hear, it just comes down to not good enough, big in their own minds, take the captaincy away from vettori, make oram captain. |

| @ 20 for 6 in wellington against that batting line up is good work, the tail wagged. They had to win and the best way to do that is put a side in when the track is doing the most, on the first morning. He was trying to force a result on a pitch that was not very likely to from a kiwi's perspective. He is in the side over jeetan cause he is captain and a spinner. You pick your team based on balance and pitch conditions. To take wickets on the first morning of a test you need seamers. Besides which Vettori can bat. He is a great spinner not in the best form of his life. Lets just strip him of his captaincy and push him out of the side, after all that is the answer!!! |

Like choosing to bowl instead of bat in the third test after winning the toss at the basin, 600 plus batting in napier then vettori decides to bowl first in wellington after the bowlers toiled through 290 something overs in napier, then they have to do it all over again in wellington, thoughtless captaincy, that's one example.
like hardly taking a wicket yet jeetan patel comes in every so often and takes more key wickets then vettori does. |

Never herd of them, are they like 90 heheh
who else could do the captaincy job better than Vittori? It depends what's in the captains a.r.s.e.n.a.l. ie bowlers & batsmen

I'll give you two.
Colin Cowdrey came out of retirement at 40 to play for England against the Ozzies.
Bobby Simpson came out of retirement to play for Oz against the Windies.
That said, it still doesnt help Vetorri and his lack of captaincy skills. |

| In a perfect world we would have Fleming back but we have more chances of seeing NZ score the 617 to win tomorrow than seeing Flem come back. Anyway he is to busy selling heat pumps! |

| I'm with you. Bring back Fleming- now that Bracewells gone into his gin bottle Fleming maybe tempted to come back - replace McIntosh with Flem- Vettori can then just bowl |

This will be repetitious - I have said all along I would never have vetorri as captain.
I will get negative responses but I would have made Bell captain and opener.
That was you get Guptill at 3, Flynn at 5 and Ryder at 6. You drop Franklin (who is a great guy but simply not up to test level).
Vetorri does not like other spinners - and answer me this - why did he have a third man everytime he bowled, but never gave the quicks the same protection?
Bell is my man.
I also would have looked at Jamie Howe as skip early in the season as that may have assisted his play.
Vetorri is not a captain. |
