Its a good idea, but the only bad thing about it is it will create a clear divide in the standard. If you have all the top teams playing each other all the time they will only get stronger leaving the weaker tier 2 teams behind them. The ICC needs to figure out a way to mix the strenghts up which will give the weaker nations a better chance. If you look at our summer coming up. 3 Test v Pakistan, 1 v Bangladesh and 2 v Australia. Pakistan would be a good series so therefore that could be extened to 5 tests. Bangladesh are not to be laughed at. Under Shakib Al-Hasan's leadership they are very good. So that series should be atleast 3 tests. And the because Australia is a lot stronger then us, we should play 3 tests at a max. This will give us some experience but wont demoralise use if they smash us everytime....New Zealand has a small pool of quality players, but lets face it, its no secret that we simply dont play enough test cricket!!
We should play the teams around us more, i.e 6, 7, 8 and 9 always play a minimum of 3 tests in a series and when playing nations ranked higher, a maximum of 3 tests per series. This system would give every nation a chance to still play each other and the players grow stronger. |

| no its not the ashes, its basically the 8 or so major test playing nations would be split into two tiers instead of the ranking system used at the moment. tier one teams ie australia, south africa, england etc would play among themselves and at least once a season play a tier two team ie new zealand, pakistan etc they havent decided on all the rules yet but thats the general idea |
