I was there the whole test....De Silva scored 269 if I recall...pitch was a featherbed...but after NZ avoided the follow on it was simply a quest for records....taking nothing away but Sri Lanka didnt exactly throw everything at them for the last two sessions (4hours)...
Saw Hadlee too...he actually 'took' all ten wickets as he caught the wicket Vaughan got |

I remember the Crowe /Jones partnership it was against Sri Lanka. I also remember Hadlee getting 15 wickets in that same test where he took 9 wickets in the first Australian innings.
3 words come to mind when I think about those feats and what is needed in the black caps these days those words are
Pride
Passion
Professionalism |

Yes matty exactly teams can afford to sit on one bowler but not two. You'd think the wickets should start flowing for Vettori with bond bowling, and
vice versa
Pretty good tandem if you ask me |

msingh - do you mean the game where Bond got 6-20 odd but Australia still ended up with 200? That has been and still is the issue with our bowling. Its all very well having the world best left arm spinner at one end, but not if you are leaking runs at the other. Vettoris figures would be a lot better if there was pressure at both ends while he was bowling.
As for McCullum and Oram? Problem is who do you put in place of them? I think they are quite comfortable in the knowledge their places in the side are relatively safe. |

I wouldnt be too harsh on the top 5 batsmen in the team, I think 4 of them have made their debuts in the last 18 months. The talents there but phark all experience.
McCullum and Oram are the main worry for me, McCullum's gone from hero to zero, his batting technique is atrocious at the mo, and Oram is no test allrounder, cant take wickets and averages about 20 with the bat in the last 3 years. |

No allahood I wasn't aware of those figures, Dam impressive though mate. Fingers crossed we get Bondy back to his best, because he still holds the record for the best ODI bowling figures By any New Zealander. So I'm certain Bondy will make all the difference
As far as chasing the money, you can't blame them hell I'd do the same |

| That is true but I'm sure that they realise that NZ players must perform at the international stage in order for the scouts to notice them and pick them up for good IPL contracts. The way they are going guys like Oram won't get close to what he was offered 2 years ago. |

Does anyone remember the 467 run partnership shared by Martin Crowe and Andrew Jones in 1991?
What about the 9/52 Richard Hadlee took against Australia in 1985.
Apart from Daniel Vettori and Ross Taylor, this current BlackCaps team is fearfully lacking talent and courage. |
