thts a good line up but broom should bat ahead of vettori...sure he sucks but hes in the team for his batting...and vettori isnt the best with the bat in odis.

Yeah man it's good to see Elliott in the playing 11 as a firm fixture

I think Redmond would slot in nicely at 3 as well.

Re:Black Caps progress Reply to this message
I cant understand why people are so critical of Hopkins. Ok, hes not the big hitter of the ball like Oram, but he is very good at working the ball. The Black Caps have not done themselves batting him at 7. He needs to be at about 5 or 6 and feed the strike to the big hitters and keep the score ticking over.

I think Vettori could look at elevating himself up the order to stablise the middle order until the current guys have relaxed and have a bit more experience. Batting Broom at 3 is too high for him, but its understandable because they were short of resources at the time.

In the absence of Ryder, Redmond should be in at number 3 with Guptill opening. Redmond has previously shown what he can do and I think it is a talent that the Black Caps should be continuing to develop. He could potentially be NZs version of Matt Hayden.

I was very please to see Elliot bowl and take wickets. I am quite critical of Vettoris bowling strategy. We quite often play upto 6 all rounders in a match, plus the bowlers but he only uses 5 bowlers. Whats wrong with a bit of variation??

The semi finals will be very interesting. Playing at the Wanderers, hopefully on the new pitch and hopefully against Pakistan (if we win it will give us good momentum heading in to the ODI series in Dubai). The Black Caps should play the following line up:
1. M Guptill
2. B McCullum
3. A Redmond
4. R Taylor
5. G Elliot
6. D Vettori
7. N Broom
8. J Franklin
9. K Mills
10. I Butler
11. S Bond

That gives us a very strong line up batting right down to #10 (and we know Bondy can swing the willow)!! It gives us 5 front line bowlers, 2 all rounders and 3 specialist batsmen!! That would be one of the best line ups we have fielded for a long long tim!!

I think Broom will be given another chance, and yeah we desperately need another top order batsmen to replace Ryder.

Redmond's the replacement. I like having Franklin in the squad too, because he and Mills helps the batting tail wag a bit more.

Re:Black Caps progress Reply to this message
They have to drop Hopkins for Redmond. As a matter of fact I really question his position (and Diamenti's) in the squad in the first place. I would have had Reece Young instead of Hopkins as he has shown he can be a middle order batsman for Auckland and an adequate keeper. Franklin should have been in the squad in the first place in front of Diamenti.

Re:Black Caps progress Reply to this message
Yeah mate those adds are popping up everywhere.

On a brighter note - it was choice to see the Black Caps whip the pomps and go through to the semis. I wonder who well face in the semis. McCullen & Guptill got us off to a flyer. Mills, Bond and Grant Elliot bowled great. Good team performance

Insider, These "ADDS" are popping up all over every forum, I just report them everytime i see them. I am surprised that xtra dosnt move on them quicker. If everyone reports them as abuse i am sure that xtra will get the message to get rid of these w-a-n-k-e-r-s.

SO EVERYBODY REPORT THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re:Black Caps progress Reply to this message
thats another thing i dont get. why does everyone expect bond be to bowling as fast as he was when he first came onto the international team.. its just not going to happen.. unless you want him to be out for a couple more years with a back injury. hes what... 34? already

Black Caps progress Reply to this message
The first ICC Champions Trophy match for the Black Caps is tonight - around 7:15pm. Hopefully we can start well in this tournament. It's not going to be an easy task beating South Africa, especially after they went down against the Sri Lankans in a very unconvincing fashion.
Good luck Black Caps go hard !
