Let's look at Oram's record...
1. His strike rate is 50! For an all-rounder coming in at 6 that is ridiculous.
2. His not outs helps his average
3. At first class level which we know is weak in NZ he still only averages 33.
4. ODI and T20 he averages under 30.
5. In 55 innings he has taken 60 wickets at Test.
6. Never had a 5w bag
7. 126 ODI innings and 132 wickets.
8. Basically he is good for one (1) wicket an innings in Test & ODI
Oram was called an all-rounder but seriously, he'd not have made our team at all were we not very weak. Cairns was never setting the world alight but his record is so far ahead of Oram.
Nathan Astle - batting av 37 Tests / 35 ODI.
wickets 51 Tests / 99 ODI
He has more claim than Oram. |

| With a test average of 36+ I'd say he's been better than some Black Caps. And the NZ Cricket board always seem to find the need to 'call on' those players it has a habit of giving the chop and tearing up contracts. |

| Orams rate of pay for time spent on the field must be mind blowing. Wouldn't we all like a crack at that sort of opportunity. If he is not injured he is an injury waiting to happen. NZ Cricket should have the balls to tear up his contract fullstop. He is heartless and gutless at best and extremely over rated which cannot be over stated. |

| If he feels he can still contribute to nz cricket in any way, I'd gladly have his services, he is a match winner and for our small players base we have to choose from, we don't have many genuinely talented cricketers like jake. |
