Well, yeah they have been good this last 2 years but who have they really played away from home? And if you look up the stats, their win loss ratio since 2006 in ODI's is the same as New Zealands even, Only Australia wins 70% of their matches
i have no idea how a 50-60 win percentage is consistent, but none the less, i like india as a team and i think they're very good |

a team with a million players to choose from should be dominant, but theyre not, i was talking ODI format, i dont know why your being so defensive and cannot simply admit that India is not on the same level of consistency as Australia, which every single person in the world but you would admit

Msingh, if India performed to its potential theyd win more world cups, infact have they won a single world cup in the past 20 years? I would say no, so, whats going on there? The biggest country with the most players in the world with fanatical fans as their #1 sport, still manages to achieve nothing in big tournaments, and of course they rarely lose playing at home , India is a very humid, dry, scarey place for cricketers to tour and play, very very different to new zealand, its like a whole another world, just like it is in Sri Lanka and Pakistan, but i wouldnt say having a great home record is anything to boast about, most countries, including NZ (apart from last summer) have very proud records at home, if India was consistant, they would win away from home consistantly, btw, i jus did a research on cricket.org, and Indias home record over the past 6 years is around 28 wins 23 losses, NZ's is 30 wins 16 losses, 8 of those losses would be, against australia who we play 5 times every year, how often does India play Australia ? not that often im guessing, their away record is around 50% also, how is 50% overall consistant? Nz is not consistant, i accept that , we struggle in the sub continant also, but to say india is consistant is a joke, learn facts

yea i wonder how nz would go with Sehwag, gambhir, tendulkar, dravid, laxman, ganguly, dho ni,harbhajan, kumble etc...or we could stop imagining and think of a team filled with matthew bell, craig cumming, skippy sinclair etc.

india have won their last 6 series in a row...if tht isnt consistency then i dont knw wat is...they also havnt lost a test series for a long time now...if winning over 50% of your matches is consistent then SA and India are up there...nz on the other hand...like the jay sean song.. DOWN!DOWN!DOWN!DOWN!

I fully agree with casper, we have the smallest playing pool to choose from and the smallest nation yet we consistently produce a side capable of upsetting any team, the expectations put on our side are a little much, they all want to be the best which is great, but if they fall short they can be forgiven, at least until we have the playing pool size of india or australia. Also, the likes of India, England, Pakistan , South Africa, Sri Lanka consistently fail also, but we never hear about that, we can beat any of these teams, Aussie is the single and only team that is consistant! And yeah, guptill taylor ryder are awesome where they are, why change? leave McCullum opening where he can throw is bat around, you have 3 other excellent batters around him that can pick up where he left off

the talent we have is young, we are still 4th in the world and are the smallest nation of people. We do not have the right pitches to produce batsmen that have stickability, and the reason we have 130kmh bowlers is because thats all they need to bowl at to take wickets in NZ. Whether or not they suceed as consistantly as NZ public demands or not, they are still our team. There arent going to be match winners up and down the list, what we have is what we got and i guarantee those guys dont go out there to lose. Oram is good, a legend? Probably not, who cares, he doesn't choose to break down and he has performed well for us in the past. Maybe the fact that we consistantly play lower ranked sides is the problem. McCullum should stay at the top if thats where he wants to be. Himselof and Jesse Ryder have been more successful in recent times than any other combo we have tried. Guptil and Taylor should stay where they are!
