When he was hired my comments were - how can a journeyman ex county players coach an international team; get them mentally ready for international games; coach them on handling tyhe pressure; and so on...when his experience was many levels below that of international?
...and we had John Wright sitting in Christchurch...
...and we have Martin Crowe able to be batting coach now...
...a ridiculous situation....

Some of the best people for the job are right here in our own backyard, it doesn't hurt to ask does it? Ask John Wright to coach, a nz'r who's coached abroad successfully, someone at nzc should really truly push this bloke into applying for the top job even though I think he doesn't need to
apply for it, it should be handed to him, ask for expertise in the likes of the astle's and cairns, Ian smith's of this world, hadlee to get amongst these blokes and push them hard in the nets, bring across the Ian healys, gilchrists from across the ditch to give advice now and then, steve waughs and mcgraths, it doesn't hurt to ask for advice if it's for the betterment of the players, sometimes you need to take away all that technology and heed some of these past and modern legends players advice more often, just my thoughts. |

The best man for the job is John Wright,
He's a hard taskmaster and he will make these blokes sweat it out for country, he coached India fairly well against a formidable australian lineup a few years ago and I think he would bring the best out of some of these guys |
