mate hes had plenty of chances i think you have to look forward not backward. speaking of old timers craig mcmillan is playing for canterbury he would be a better option than styris if you have to have experienced dude their. Maybe aswell and give neil broom and oram theass

SINCLAIR another hundred, will surely be yet again NZ's top run score domesticly, and im a firm believer in this guy, sure he has a few defensive flaws but if he can produce runs the way he does, im sure he can succeed internationally, he already has on numberous occasions, but the fact selectors choose to play him out of position and give him one test here, another 5 years later gives the guy no chance to show what hes made of

Re:NZ VS PAKISTAN Reply to this message
Good partnership between the last two pakis batsmen in the last ODI, superb batting, pakis almost got home in fact, from a dire situation of about 110 runs to get, with 1 wicket left, they fell agonisingly short by just seven runs
new zealand really needs to work on their death bowling,
when you have a team at 80 something for 9, you need a killer instinct to finish teams off, this is lacking in the bowling department from a nz point of view, a genuine death bowler to ram home the advantage

Re:NZ VS PAKISTAN Reply to this message
Who said anything about retaining Broom?? When Elliot & Ryder are back, Redmond, Broom and Styris will get the axe. But saying that Ross Taylor is arguably New Zealands best batsmen, Im sure I can find a good argument!!. He needs a break from the pressure of playing for New Zealand. He has had better results playing for Bangalore then he has had for New Zealand. So a break would do him no harm at all.

And I think you will have to start looking at the performances of other players in the team, namely one Martin Guptill. At the moment he is New Zealands best batsmen. He is consistant and hardly ever looks out of place. He was selected by the ICC in the ODI Team of the year. Hes only been playing a season and hes already made an impression on the ICC.

Bangladesh are playing good cricket, but so are New Zealand. So what will happen if we rest Taylor for that series?? Nothing. There is enough batting depth in the Black Caps that will comfortably fill the void that Taylor would leave.

Ofcourse my theory only works if we have a fully fit team. And would probably look like this:

Ryder
McCullum
Guptill
Taylor
Elliot
Vertorri
Oram
Franklin / Butler
Mills
Southee
Bond

Re:NZ VS PAKISTAN Reply to this message
only and idiot would drop taylor instead of NEIL BROOM...taylor is arguebaly nz's best batsmen and neil broom has played 16 odis with a highest score of 37..why would u play him...as for bangladesh...dont underestimate them..they have been playing pretty well as of late....saying tht nz should beat them comfortably.

Re:NZ VS PAKISTAN Reply to this message
Good stuff New Zealand!! They have played some awesum cricket over the last 2 ODIs and the Champions Trophy. One wonders though what will happen when Ryder returns. Obviously he will slot back into opening with McCullum. I know Redmond hasn't set the world on fire, but I think the selectors should persist with him. He has scored a 20/20 century which was a pleasure to watch and has put in some solid performances for Otago and deserves his spot. So heres an outrageous thought that probably wont be popular with every one....When Ryder is fit, I think Redmond should slot into 3 and Guptil to 4. Taylor needs a rest!! Remember out next series is v Bangladesh, so what are they going to lose by giving him a rest and trying Redmond at 3??

It is good to see some very useful talent coming through the ranks and it is even more pleasing to know that we can win ODI series with an understrength team. When we have Ryder and Elliot back, we should be near impossible to beat again!! Roll on Australia!!
