New Zealand has taken shearings world title. Taranaki man Paul Avery has taken the title from Australias Shannon Warnest. What a fine athlete! Congratulations to the choppers in Ireland too!

Woodchopper David Bolstad, Taumarunui, won the Stihl Timbersports Worldsports Championship in Ireland last week. Bolstad won all six events in the competition, gaining a perfect 90 points - the first ever winner of all six events.

It would be great to see our athletes, Paul Avery, Johnny Kirkpatric and Joanne Kumeroa regain the world title from the Aussies. The Aussies are out of their depth this time and the Scotsmen will be a threat, but i reckon the Kiwis will do the job. Go the kiwis.

It looks pretty likely that New Zealand shearers and woolhandlers will take out the world champs in Norway this weekend. GO KIWIS!
