| I was there to watch the Kiwis beat the Aussies. It jut doesn't get any better than that. Centenary year on aussie soil, in front of a sold out suncorp stadium. Lets not forget they also won the tri-nations. But being at the world cup final was a once in a lifetime moment never to be forgotten. |

michael campbell u.s golf champ 05' etc etc,bla bla
the Kiwis,The Now,2008,just a couple of months ago,
still the Kiwis,lost 9 in a row,who gives a sheite
won the 1 that matters most, defeated aus at a sporting code they hold dear to their hearts & punked them in their own country in the centenary year of rugby league, beautiful mate, celebrate that 1,any nz team that goes to aus & defeats their teams on their turf to shut them up,will always get my recognition,THEY DEFEATED AUSTRALIA,Thats why i love their victory more then all the others, how yes the swindells are the shizzmo, they from the Waikato,of course they are,of course Scott Dixons a fast car driver, wow wee
pc brigade, this time it should go to the Kiwis, they deserve it more, especially when no one gave them a sh#t show after 2007 when they lost 58-0 to aus & then lost a series 3 nil to england in england,to come back in 08' & defeat both england & Asstraya,You get my vote.

I don't have a problem with League claiming the award but to suggest that league is more international thatn rowing is just b#lls#it. Did you see how many nations were represented in the rowing finals in Beijing??
League is probably the lest international sport I can think of. Only 3 nationas have a shot at the RWC. The rest are just a joke. |

The Kiwi's diffintly have to serious contenders for the Halberg Cup in front of the Swindowel twins.
They are a story that you don't really offten see in sport, it's a story about a Team that over came their biggest nemeisis, "The Aussies". A Team that in the International Sports Arena, has had a serious reign as World Chapions in Rugby League at a International level and yet a young bunch of Kiwis put their hands up and shocked the Rugby League World . People wrote them off left right a centre, even there fellow country men had written them off.
This is The One Greatest Moments in New Zealand Sports. This is not only a mile stone in New Zealand Sports but also in The World Of Rugby League.
Go The Kiwi's |

| Kia ora and Happy New Year to you all.Without a doubt the best result for rugby league ever.Everyone wrote the Kiwi's off(myself included)but by geez, for once it was the Aussies making all the silly errors while the Kiwi's just stuck to their game plan.I hope NZ gives the Halberg award to them. The twins have won gold and many accolades in their sport.C'mon NZ sport, credit where credits due"RUGBY LEAGUE WORLD CHAMPIONS!"I think that says it all...YEEAAAH!! |

Right up there as the best in 2008 for me, if not perhaps one of the best results for NZ ever. We have the RLWC for 5 years and thats a lot of time I now have to brag to my aussie mates.
Was a masterfull stroke of planning, and excecution that the coach and team have a lot to be thanked for.
There are a lot of parallels with the Allblack failure at the rugby world cup.
Kangaroos did the Allblack complacency thing, and took it for granted. Aussies moaned about the referee the same way as the NZers did against the referee in the ABs vs France match.
At the end of the day, they were out muscled, out played, out thought, out motivated, something they werent expecting and didnt know how to react to it on the day.
It was magnificent to watch. |

| It has to be ranked near the best of 2008. Considering our side was depleted from the outset... no captain Roy Asotasi, Sonny Bill Williams, Frank Prichard and more... Up against one of the best lineups in world league... to win a "world cup"... and also done it on their turf in front of their crowd. I think this victory has to be right up there. Though I have to say the Evers-Swindel twins will likely win the team award at the Halbergs in front of the Kiwis. |

xtr Worried? why?
IN a final at home we would make damn sure we drop an exclamation mark on that biatch!
BTW I noticed TV3 did not rate the kiwi victory as high as I thought instead that honour went to the ever-swindells |

| Kiaoramai, that is a scenario that would cause a lot of concern but the Rugby Union world cup format is different to that of Rugby League world cup. People knew that League world cup would only be contested by Australia, England and New Zealand. How will anyone know if the All Blacks make it to the final? The same thing applys to the Wallabies who could be knocked out in the semis or quarters. However, I'd be worried If it is an All Blacks vs Wallabies final. |

| I certainly agree that this achievement would probably be one of the greatest of the year. But not to get too side tracked off the issue I want to pose a theory of sorts. Could this victory be a parallel to what is to come. What do I mean? Look at the outcome Australia being the best team by a country mile beaten by NZ (I love it) in the their own fortress (country). Fast forward to the 2011 Rugby World Cup final NZ vs Australia (maybe). Could this win be the writing on the wall. I know that this sounds a bit far fetch but just think about it, after all the failures that we have had is it not possible that this could be our greatest. Any thoughts!!! |

Considering the odds, The lack of talent depth, The fact that it would struggle to be even in the top "10" NZ sports in terms of participation and The history of repeated failure against prikstralia it would definately be up there with any team sport.
Other and future Kiwi sporting teams will use this result as inspiration and motivation for years to come, Regardless of the sport. Apart from Rugby and sometimes netball, Were the underdog in any team sport. |
