I like Shane and think he has a great heart and is a good boxer. However I dont think his hands are as great as his heart. He also bleeds too easy, has a suspect chin and his punching power cannot really be gauged or compared because hes not fought proven international fighters who are ranked near the top 100. His one loss was against an unknown and un-ranked Friday. He also failed to put the nail in the coffin of his recent fight against Davis, an ranked fighter who went 11 rounds against former world heavyweight champ Michael Moore – a guy David Tua put to sleep in the first round with a 30 second long bed time story ïŠ
Tua on the other hand, although one dimensional possesses a very rare combination in boxing and something Shane definitely doesn’t have – both a killer punch and a solid chin. Some of Tua’s wins were against the caliber of: Oleg Maskaev (former Wbc champ), Hasim Rahman (Former IBF, WBA, Wbc champ), Michael Moorer (Former Wbo champ) , Fres Oquendo (Former Wba champ) and John Ruiz (Former WBA champ). Tua’s only 3 losses were against: Lenox Lewis, Ike Ibeabuchi and Chris Bird. These guys boxed smart and kept their distance from Tua. To beat Tua, whether fat and out of shape, a has been or not, you at least have to be somewhere near the caliber of these guys. Unfortunately Shane is nowhere near it.
Tua to win within 3. |

"Cameron would have learnt from the friday fight. Cameron lost to friday and Tua lost to Ibeabuchi. They both became better fighters from their loses. The difference is that Cameron is on the rise and Tua is a has been!"
sorry but the difference is , Tua got a WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE fight within 2 years of that loss:):):) and that was against Lennox Lewis:):) lol
Shane though, a year and a half from that loss, is still fighting in places like chch and gisborne:):) lol
thats the diffrence:):) |

| Courtneyclan - In his own words he damaged in during training, so I doubt it was broken then otherwise they would've pulled the plug on the Davis fight. He's going to have a scan in a few days once the swellings gone down a little, so we'll know more. |

Kaneio - I can't see what Shane's learnt from the loss to Friday to be honest, arguably his defense has gone backwards since then, and he seemed to have lost a lot of the power he did have in his hands against Davis to me. Maybe it's the way he's slimmed right down, but he didn't seem to be able to physically impose himself the way he has in other fights.
Maybe if he'd show some skill as a counter puncher or an out and out boxer I'd give him a chance against Tua, but at the moment he only ever goes forward, and doesn't seem to have anything in his aresenal that'll keep Tua at bay for any length of time.
To win he has to take it the distance, but how can he if he can't stop Tua closing the distance and landing? |

| I also think Friday would beat Tua as well. Tua was a great Boxer pre Lewis. Not now! Cameron would have learnt from the friday fight. Cameron lost to friday and Tua lost to Ibeabuchi. They both became better fighters from their loses. The difference is that Cameron is on the rise and Tua is a has been! People know what to expect from Tua where Cameron mixes things up a lot better than what Tua does. |

KANEIO
I'm amazed. I can't say that it couldn;t happen but do you think that if it came to that would SHANE still be intact or will he look liek he did against AHUNANYA?
As we know KENNY said that if he hadn't succumbed he would have won that fight and on top of looking a bloody mess... |

Good point! In order for Tua to win he is going to have to hit him with his left. David Tua is the most predictable boxer around. David Tua the punching bag!
That stoppage in the 11th was justified. It was the same when Tua fought Rachman and got his KO in the 11th. Those were the days when Tua could box!
Cameron would knock Moora out in 39 seconds. Tua fought Moora when Moora was towards the end of his career. |

the fight commentator, mentioned about Davis going the full distance with Michael moore, and Cameron got rid of him in 11, I was waiting for him to mention that David Tua KNOCKED OUT, michael moore in 40 seconds, in the first round!!! the end...
Commentator didnn't know DT already fought Moore!!
cameron still bleeds!!,still gets caught easily!!
Cameron looks almost punch-drunk, or something!!
Is it just me, or can it be Cameron still hasn't recovered from his date with Friday, or is it , he can dish out the punishment, but can't handle Flack?? |

| Hard to see that body rip landing cleanly as often on Tua though - shorter man means less room between the bottom of the elbow and the hip. Also Shane was dropping his right hand to around his waist almost every time he threw the left body rip, just wonder how many times Tua would have to see that before he decided to wear the body shot to land a left hook... |

| He wasn't that much slower than Tua. Cameron worked the body for the whole fight until davis had nothing in the rib shots tank. How many hard right rib shots did davis take? Tua can only through his left. If Tua hits Cameron with it then Tua wins if not then Cameron will win on points. I don't see Cameron knocking out Tua and I don't see Cameron dumb enough to let himself be hit by Tua's left. |

Fair enough Kaneio - I've got to say I couldn't see the boxing thing though, so you must have better eyes than mine mate lol
I hear that David is spending alot of time running, he's been seen at a few different gyms working out lately and hitting the streets all over the place. While he might not come in the best shape he's ever been in I think he should be fitter than Davis was.
Still worried about how many shots Davis was actually able to land. He's a slower puncher as well so I've got a few worries regarding how many shots Cameron will take from Tua come June. |

| I thought Cameron BOXED well! That is one thing Tua has never been able to do, BOX! If Cameron fights like that against Tua without being hit by Tuas left then it will be a 12 round decision win to Cameron. You think that davis is unfit? Wait until you see Tua? |

| wow after watching cameron take 11 rounds to put away a out of shape unfit Davis i'd expect Tua to be really worried about the june fight..... or not,LOL! i really do feel for cameron as his management really don't have a clue as to what they are doing to their young charge, i was initially picking tua to win win within 6 now after watching that fight i'm going for tua within 3, but thats just my opinion. |

This is no doubt the most eagerly anticpated duel in nz since Waddell vs Drysdale (rowing) but I think there is more on the line. Whoever loses this fight will no doubt be relegated to settle for pub fight purses - this will be a pity. From this perspective Tuaman has more to lose as a loss will more than likely end his comeback career. if he won most would say that it was expected. Cameron needs respect and validity because I AGREE he has fought no one and a win over Tua will do wonders for his reputation....a knockout over Tua will launch his reputation into orbit - he has the power to do so and this will become more of a reality if the fight goes into the latter rounds.
Its a pity that in order to satisfy the cravings of NZ sporting public that this fight is perhaps one year to early. I would have liked to see Cameron and Tua with a few more fights under their belt that may have offered alternative pathway for both of them.
But lets place this into world boxing perspective this will only satisfy NZ cravings and once the fight is over and winner declared...it will barely make a ripple on the world stage.
The real winners are the boxing marketers and event managers more than willing to take advantage of a desperate humble samoan man only wanting to put food on the table and pay his outstanding bills.
Tua in his prime gave chills to every boxing promter who did his best to protect his charge and avoid at all costs putting his protege in against the Tuaman
Cameron even if you win you still got a long way to go in my eyes but youre one step closer. Tua if you do lose, at least you had your chance......and thanks for the memories. |
