| brimancer - i feel really sorry that you can't see the wood for the trees. I see a talented netball player who left her country and family to persue her netball and all you see is the 'South African' in her....thats sad dude! May you never become a silver fern netball selector. |

| jostek1 - Don't get me wrong NZ did very well pre Irene with Colling and Wilkins nee Loffhagen. But....where are they now? Both married and making families and good on them. But, even before Donna got married and got pregnant she jumped ship and went to basketball. She stopped playing for the ferns a long time ago. Irene is the one that has kept NZ at the top of the netball field. Don't get me wrong we've also had Theresa Tairi, Daneka Wipiiti and others along the way but i agree with you jostek1 Irene has definately added what we were missing when Wilkins and Colling stopped playing. |

| Hmmmm....hine.....narrow minded people...only those that say things like that think like it...an using caps certainly doesn't go far...lol....don't matter to me who pledges their luv to who...Irene aint ours as far as Im concerned an we shuld be lookn at wat we missn cos aussies are human like the rest of us. NZ need to hold on to peepz like Jill cos we can learn a trick or two...anywayz England waz lookn not too bad an have a coupla fav players there!...but if NZ recruit any of their players to play for our national team I will diss them as well! Brimancer...Irene has south-african ancestory YES! but she has declared herself on more than one occassion to be a New Zealander! and has certainly paid her dues to be able to do so!It is people like YOU and YOUR NARROW MINDED COMMENTS that won't allow her to be anything more than an outsider! Well buddy... look around on this netball blogg! Most people have embraced Irene and it would seem that your the only one that hasn't...so answer me this....who is the outsider now?
Jill McIntosh - The point i was trying to make there was that the New Zealand born former coach of the ozzie girls lead them through a remarkable winning era. The Waitaumanu days....Bernice Mene....Linda Vagana.......Vicki Wilson etc. They just could not be beaten! and a NZ born person was at the helm of that winning ship! Aussie's don't care where there players/coahes were born....and neither should we! |

| That's wat I'm talkin bout...we KiWis had to wait for a south afrikaan to cum play for us to help win sum games against aussie. Don't mention Temepara...shez iz 2 levels above the rest, aint no comparison. An az for Jill McInstosh...she just got the sack from none otha than a NZ netball franchise, who sadly aren't doin that well. Need I say more....we even ditch our own (Kiwi born) peepz...hmmmmmmm...... |

| Yup...yes Cath Cox was born here and the aussies are also quick to foget that the person who coached them through there winning years was Jill McIntosh who was also NZ born. |

| Its all about developing our players cos Irene an the likes are not going to be around for long. Good on Ruth for tryin out new blood regardless of when they were intro into the game...only way to learn..the hard way. Suk it in an be proactive an give support to our selected players. We've won a few great games under Ruth an with Wai there to assist we can only get better. Can't wait for the ASB cup next season...I have my fav netball players an most of from aussie cos I'm just like that. Once NZ can field an all Kiwi born players in the side I will again support the Ferns! |

| Yeh i wasn't tooo impressed with Telfer being brought on but she okay i guess! Agree that the real loss was ole Maria Tutaia missing her one and only goal of the game....damn it! never mind! i've just had a quick squiz at the 2009 teams and well well aren't there a few surprises! Ole Megan Dehn's gone to the Brisbane Firebirds for one. Waititi and Mkloma gone to the Tactix! Cookey for the Mystics! unsurprisingly there are no changes to the Swifts! well that i can see anyway! Goodtimes! i can't wait for the season to start! Yeeeehaaaaa! |

| two opportunities lost when langman through that bad pass+when maria missed that shot(up til that point she was shootin 100per cent)gotta take your chances,thats the difference between a win+ a loss,still think we should be winning since we have far more experience in our side,good on aussie,they will never die wondering in any sport. |

once again Aitken throws out an inexperienced player (Telfer) into a white hot test match against the worlds best team, with the series on the line. Nothing against Telfer, she tried her best but wasn't used to the pace and urgency of netball at this level.
Why does our coach continuously throw these players into the deep end at crucial stages of tests/series, in order to give them some experience?? Best team in the world, one quarter away from winning the series and gaining #1 ranking...throw a rookie into the fire. Can someone explain that to me please? like I'm a six year old. |

Fia, Tutaia is from West Auckland, the West/Central Samoan girls are different to the South Auckland ones, haha.
I read that Temepara is going to try make the Ferns next year but if she doesn't make it, she'll play for Samoa. |

Tutaia is Samoan..let's see some of that physicality, although she may shoot better when calm and getting aggro might mess with that mindset.
If they just stay focussed and put pressure on potential receivers in the midcourt....we've got them. |

I think that Liana Barret-Chase is an awesome player, and needs to be developed more. I don't think she's quite hit her prime yet. But wasn't she supposed to be out this season because she was pregnant?
The reason I like Scanlan in GD, is because she has speed in the circle while Williams has the height and strength. Speed is a must when facing the aussies. I don't believe having De Bruin *sp in the circle with Williams is a good idea because they both have similar styles of defence. Having two tall, and not so fast players up against shooters like McMahon isn't gona work.
Henry is a great midcourter, but she also has great vision to the NZ shooting circle. Where as most players will p.ussy foot down the court she will look right into the circle. Those are basic skills that everyone in the team should possess.
I don't give a toss what George does in her spare time, she's excellent on court, especially up against the aussies! Another player who I admired for her feistiness was Sonya Hardcastle.
As for the shooting circle, I don't think Wipiiti has enough confidence to play at international level....yet. In saying that, I would like to see Tutaea harden up a bit. She gets pushed around too easily.
I must admit, I didn't think very much of Van Dyke when she first started. I just thought she was tall. But now I think she's improved so much, especially in the last few years, and I think Nolene Taurua Barnett is responsible for a lot of that. |

I Think the real test for the Ferns - is when the Diamonds put their top 7 out on court! Then we'll see how good are girls are!
You think that with Australia's top players going into retirement after the World Champs that NZ should be able to steam roll over them!! But NOT TRUE!! I love the depth that Australia has - im actually jealous!!ha |

| Go the ferns!!! YAY - about time they stepped up and preformed!! There's still a few ferns who should have a great big ? next to their name! I'm not much of a Paula Griffin fan - maybe its cause she is so young, but she doesn't really bring anything to the game. No urgency on court she just looks a little casual!! Like she is play another game for the Northen Force (or whatever their name is) even then she didn't impress me! I actually like Anna Thompson at GA - she has got good movement and understanding on the court, she sorta reminds me of Belinda Colling abit - and also like Belinda her shooting accuracy aint the best (but im sure she could work on that!!) just she moves alot better than Paula and maybe Maria out at GA. I think Ruth should seriously start looking at the Girl! |
