I couldn't agree with you more if I tried Karla. Imagine the reaction Graeme Henry would get if he lost to Australia and smiled while saying how positive things are. We MUST play better on Saturday night. We don't have a choice.

Re:Serious Netball Critiques Reply to this message
Of course i want them to win! but my point is you have to take the good with the bad! they do need to strive harder and strengthen the mid court and get some fight in the circle! i thought cassey did a fantastic job even though taking a blow to the head! However i think De Bruin should have been put up sooner!! but no use looking at the shudda cudda wuddas look forward to saturday hoping like heck that they have their spark back!

Re:Serious Netball Critiques Reply to this message
What was Ruth Aitken thinking last night when she stood up in front of the NZ public last night and spoke so positively about LOSSING the match last night. WE LOST!!!Is she becoming that resigned to the Aussies dominating us that she only needs to speak about the positives now ? I mean, in all honesty, that was a unexperienced Aussie line up up against capped silver ferns, even if some of them were out of position. That is unforgiveable. How can she save the ferns from this humiliating lossing streak and regain the country some dignity again? This is our national sport for woman right? The only player that looked like she really wanted to win out there on the court last night was Casey Williams. The others can all be given a pat on the back for playing well but not for going out there and really wanting that win. Although the shooters shot well last night, all I saw was Irene standing under the goal post waiting for the ball and Maria rolling the edge of the circle. No one cutting the baseline or providing movement. Laura played well at WA but the connections between her and Seymour were missing. Why was Bowden only brought in at the last quatre when she is the WA expert. Strange decisions. I'm not sure if I can bring myself to watch Saturday nights match. To watch the ferns go down so easily is not pretty to watch. I want to see a team that wants to make there country proud.

the umpires do have a lot to answer for there was a lot of held ball in the aussie circle poor casey was getting annoyed and the breaks at the centre pass any fool can see the umpires are too slow getting back to blow the whistle

Re:Serious Netball Critiques Reply to this message
again, I see your point. You've also made my point..'The ferns didn't look too worried' They just lost a test match! I'm not slamming them and not being negative. I know they are trying, everyone does. I want them to win (do you actually want them to win) so am simply stating that they need to toughen up mentally to take advantage of any breaks in the game that go their way, or find a way to make those breaks happen.
Patting them on the back all of the time and jumping on people wanting to see them achieve hasn't helped either.

I'm pretty sure we both want them to win. Don't we?

re: oh ye of little faith

What have they done to give you faith that they'll beat the Australians? It's like deja vu watching those team splay. Instead of accepting it, we need to be looking at what we need to do to improve enough to beat them.

Re:Serious Netball Critiques Reply to this message
Oh, so that makes losing at international level ok then?
This is our national team and as such they should be expected to perform.
I take your point, but our mistakes always cost us, Regardless of who's playing. When we have the chance to draw level or go ahead, you can almost put the house on there being an eror which hands the ball, and the momentum, back to Australia.

I enjoyed last nights game. It was great. I dont think you can fault the ferns even though we lost. I did make one observation though. Netball players are getting taller, which is why scanllen was benched i think. Langman played a great game and Cassey too.

Re:Serious Netball Critiques Reply to this message
Oh yee of little faith! ya cant be perfect all the time...the ferns have dealt with huge losses with George leaving aswell as Wilson! now these players dont make the team however they have a huge mental impact on the game!!! its like loosing your left arm! it takes time to tweek the imperfection and thats what tests like this are designed for!! the aussies are going through the same thing without having Cox or McMahan on the court...this time our mistakes cost us...hopefully next time we will come out on top on sat

Re:Serious Netball Critiques Reply to this message
One of the most inexperienced Oz teams for a while and it proved one thing...again. We are not mentally tough enough to take this Australian team. Not only do we crack when the heat goes on, we anticipate the heat, expect to fail and wait to crack. Until we can fix that, we're pushing sh!t uphill dreaming about dominating Australia.

Re:Serious Netball Critiques Reply to this message
I thought it was an ok game!!! needed a bit more urgency in the mid court...but awesome intercepts done by the defence...wanting some opinons don't know if it was just me or were the auzzie defence over defending. I would like to see som umpires with consistancy and more confidence as these ones seem to vary quite a bit (not favouring oneside)

Re:Serious Netball Critiques Reply to this message
GS - Daneka Wipiiti
GA - Irene Van Dyk
WA - Laura Langman
C - Julie Seymour
WD - Sheryl Scanlan
GD - Leana De Bruin
GK - Casey Williams
Between now and Saturday....Ruth rerally needs to work on the attack end because crickey they need some work. Tutaia is okay but she lacks mongrel! which isn't a bad thing but V an Dyk lacks it as well. So, what the gives you is 2 shooters who will shoot the lights out but are casual. the only way i would have put Bowden on is with Seymour at C because they have played together...Langman and Bowden need more court time together. I may have put Langman back to WD and leave Seymour at C perhaps.....

Please put up your team line-up! what do yous reckon?

Hollah!

i absolutely agree that Seymour played better at C. With the change with Langman to C she took far too long to settle in.

okay so we have just lost hmmmmmm Tutaia stank up the place! Langman took too long to settle in at C. Ruth made some poor positional decisions!

Re:Serious Netball Critiques Reply to this message
It is now the third quarter and Ruth has rung in a few changes qhich i will reserve judgement on until the end. I might have given Wipiiti a go in at GS actually and pulled Tutaia. De Bruin has come on beautifully and now Williams is getting the support that she needs. I think i would have left Langman in at WA and Seymour at C and maybe Scanlan at WD. The attack is really f&%&ing it up for them now!

and hell yeh bring on Wilkins and George...you can't tell me that Tutaia or Van Dyk are better at GA than Wilkins and nobody is better than George at C. I wouldn't suggest at all that they are as over the hill as Buck!!!!! please!
