I'm not a big netball fan but I watched the game and I was gutted. WE lost to a better side and at least netball fans are willing to admit that.
But the real reason the Silver Ferns lost wasn't the non-selection of Temepara George (surprised that hasn't come up) or Jodi Te Huna (though she did suck) it was something else. Know what it was?
It was a bald dude by the name of Graham Henry on the sideline, lol. |

To be sure we gave the game away by not taking every opportunity. Had some players committed themslves more to the game, we would have won. We had it all over OZ in the last quaerter - the quarter that really counted!
BUT you played very well girls - and AT LEAST YOU GOT US TO A FINAL - AND A WORLD CUP FINAL AT THAT. 2ND IS STILL VERY GOOD! |

| Absolutely, Te Huna struggled big time and Maria should have been given a go. Irene is not to blame, she was fantastic and it doesn't take a genuis to work out they had to pressure Irene once Gerrard had Te Huna running scared. Well it's history now so we need to rebuild once again. Aiken and Gibbs could have mixed it up a little but they chose not too, it has been tough year all round but we will regroup and live to fight another day. |

| I totally agree, I was waiting for Te Huna to be taken off from the first quarter, she doesn't have the guts to take the shots and she lost possession for us way too many times. Plus she doesn't even seem to want to fight for it!! I was very impressed with Casey Williams, I think her tears at the end showed just how much she had put into the game, but I think the best thing we can do is get someone to replace Te Huna quickly!! |

I agree, you show me a better GS in New Zealand, let alone the world. She needs a GA that can support her. You cant tell me in the entire length of NZ that we dont have a better GA than Te Huna? and a proper GA, not a GS turned into GA. We need someone like Colling but who can shoot. Simone Forbes or Cookie for England. Irene is left too many times as the sole shooter in the circle. How many times was Te Huna outside the circle yesterday? I know the defence was making it hard to get the ball in but she was just not getting around Gerrard.
Lets not go crazy and start asking for sackings and stuff. Lets take the pain onboard and use it to get that cup back next time.
We start building from today! |

I Agree. NZ doesn't have the depth of players our friends across the ditch have. It's a bit scary to think what are we in for if Irene decides to throw it in? Yes Maria and Paula are up and coming but, are they international players? Are the management and captain going to get the chop like in our other national sports? I think a change is always good and I'm sorry a lob pass into a shooter everytime with a world class defender in Liz Ellis is not a good pass!!! I'm sick & tired of people saying that type of pass is. It's crap and if it wasn't the fact that Irene is prepared to go up for those hospital passes then we would lose by a heap more.
Well done Casey Williams, you can hold your head up high. You are by far the player of the tournament for the Ferns. Your never give up attitude was great to watch. |

craigudy: agreed we lost, no sense in getting to worked up now, also agree with those complaining about Te Huna, she dropped her bundle and we were truly then exposed the fear was holding her back and like most here were hoping she was going to be replaced but she wasn't.
Like the AB's, Kiwi's and Black Caps we are going to have to take it on the chin and rebuild. T George was sorely missed as expected but preparing now for my Aussie mates back home...good grief! God for them. |

| can't blame the ref this time, they made a pretty even number of bad calls on both sides, but they made some odd calls at times. We threw away too many passes, aussies defence was great,our GA lacked confidence to shoot goals in the beginning and we lost ball when she passed it back outside the circle. |

| what a good game it was last night, the NZ'ers had every chance to win in the last few minuites but made critical errors that lost them the game, all credit to both teams. I thought NZ'ers were out of contention in the first half but fought back impressivly, yes the umpires were not that flash but made mistakes/bad calls on both sides. I thuought we lost fair and square but enjoyed the game |

Not whinning, and this goes both ways, Kiwis and Aussies. Surely there must be better Umpires out there. They miss so much, and again, that goes for both Aussie and New Zealand. Its not like they have to see everything on their own. There is 2 of them!
I thought it was a real ding-dong battle, and it could have gone the other way, but, we let them get out by too much and its too hard to rope in a great team like Australia if you give em a 7-10 goal advantage.
Its just frustrating when the Umpires get such blatant things wrong and at times just seem to ignore things right in front of them. Im sure the Aussies would feel the same if the result went the other way.
Anyway, well done Aussie, you have earned this win. We'll be back to keep you on your toes.
To all the Ferns supporters.....Dont turn your back on the girls. The will sort themselves out and be back to fight next year. Maybe there will be some retirements, maybe not. Lets just keep on supporting them. The last thing they will need now is the usual public beying for blood coz we feel bad. |

| I think TaHuna should have replaced in the 1st Q she was in her on zone her head was hanging, as Gerrard had the better of her I would have sub her with Paula instead as the Ozzie did not her play Tahuna lost it for us, not Irene you need to have two shooters in the ring not one, Irene did her best to cover both. My bet was on Ozzie from their 1st game, they showed tenacity, confidence and accuracy congratulations to them. |

Here we go, lets blame someone. STOP IT!!!!! We lost, we made mistakes, they made mistakes. Yes we could have won, everyone in the team made dumb mistakes. So did the Aussies. It was close and they fought hard. Lets take it on the chin and fight another day. Please dont start bitching and pointing fingers, it aint going to change the outcome. Im as gutted as anyone "BUT" someones gotta loose and today it was us. Still proud of em and lets build a stronger new team and get that cup back next time.
