That's true. However, when you don't make it to at least the semi's and the sport you are playing is our national sport Rugby, then you have to ask questions of all concerned.
Our expectations are no different then the expectations the athletes put on themselves.
If they can't handle the heat, then they shouldn't be in the kitchen. |

Just been thinking about NZs year in Sport and was thinking maybe we as whole are in a Big way to blame for our sporting woes. Do we put too much pressure on our Atheletes to perform? We are only a tiny country and the fact that we can compete in any sport at an International level is great, BUT, do we place that all or nothing hoodoo on our teams and individuals and then blame them when they fail.
I love seeing our teams stick it to the big countrys like Aussie and SA, and we should really appreciate the effort our people put in to do this, its enormous.
But we have become a Nation that expects to come first place in everything and it is a disaster when we dont.
I just think if we got behind our sports people and didnt give them the "if ya dont win, dont bother coming home" attitude maybe they wouldnt crack under the pressure. |
