sonny bill williams is vital to the bulldogs thats why they signed him up on a long term contract.... hes been there 5 seasons now...awesome player - gave it 200% in the league test...just like the other players...but aussies gave it 300%

I live in the Hawkes Bay and dont have Sky TV, so I listen on the radio live. The Aussie commentators were brilliant, with Warren Ryan as comments man. Very Knowlegable. Even though we lost, I enjoyed the game. Remember, a bad game of league is still better than a good game of Union!!

Re:Thoughts on the league test Reply to this message
I think everybody is focusing on the Kiwis playing poorly and forgetting how hard it is too beat the Australians. I thought after the horrible start we did play well, but the Aussie defence was just too good. Everytime Webb got the ball the defence smothered him, they just did their homework thats all. Hohaia was just out of his league, not his fault I feel. Mannering, SBW, Soiola were standouts, Pritchard good off bench.

Re:Thoughts on the league test Reply to this message
What I am saying is SBW plays 100% for the dogs but not as good for the Kiwis See what dinero doe's to ya? You guy's watch how he plays this weekend. Anyway, if you think he's that good' he should be able to make more play's. One other thing. NO-ONE'S bigger than the game, like he think's he is!

Re:Thoughts on the league test Reply to this message
SBW is the best ball playing forward that nzs produced in years,he follows in the footsteps of mark graham, tawera nikau,Hugh Mcgahan, but the difference between him and them is huge, its now a young mans game and sbw has the total package, marketability, the status, and he can dam sure play a bit,i'll also give the dogs credit for harnessing his talents, and i'll also give a big slap in the head for Jon Ackland for letting SBW go when he was 16.

Re:Thoughts on the league test Reply to this message
laurie.judy@xtra.co.nz are you saying that SBWs passion for the Kiwi's jersey comes from his head and not his heart. How do you know this?????? He was one of the better players in a losing side. Once we get a decent halves combination to put him in some holes or use him to create holes I suspect he will tear the aussies a new a-hole.

Re:Thoughts on the league test Reply to this message
Why is everyone going on about SBW? I've never seen him play a decent game for the Kiwi's yet. When it come's to the Black jumper, your passion should come from the heart, not the head!!

Re:Thoughts on the league test Reply to this message
Yeah there's no way about it, Phil is and always has been a tosser. I'm merely just stating the fact that he said the Kiwi's should have more SBW's.

Re:Thoughts on the league test Reply to this message
Blair, Webb, Leuluai and Hohaia were mud in the first half, If I remember correctly 2 or 3 tries came through the Storm prop.

SBW was the Lone Ranger again for the Kiwi's, Phil Gould was right- we need 2 or even a team full of Sonny's.

Re:Thoughts on the league test Reply to this message
The straining of the neck muscles during the haka probably restricted blood flow to the head which took 20 minutes to subside, hence the ridiculous errors which cost them the game. Plenty to be pleased about in the 2nd half, especially with Benji (surgeon willing) Ben Roberts & Jerome to come back into the backline. Soliola & SBW are dangerous on that right edge. More ball there please?!!!

Re:Thoughts on the league test Reply to this message
cant blame lancey,he got chucked into 5/8 at short notice cause of ben roberts injury, hes been at fullback all year for the warriors so itd be quite hard hard for him to jump in that position, standoffs a crucial position, asotasi went off in the 14th minute after a head clash,so we never saw the best of him,im with Matthew ridge who says Leuluai is just a solid player and thats it,not a game breaker or match winner on anyday, the game was gone in the first twenty minutes, aussie just shredded us to pieces,a loss is a loss no matter which way you look at it,but the signs for the future,in particular, the rugby league world cup are looking pretty good for the kiwis.

Re:Thoughts on the league test Reply to this message
i'll take a 16 point loss over a 58-0 hiding anyday,to me theres a whole change in attitude, before halftime when it was 22-0 i was thinking to myself, here we go,wellington all over again, but they come back strong in the second half which was pretty encouraging

Re:Thoughts on the league test Reply to this message
I thought lance hohaia had a stink game not entirely his fault he hasnt played there all year then to be thrown in wasnt easy! Ben roberts was missed, the guy has a good attacking game and is probably what SBW needed someone to run off him since brent webb was invisible and caught out of postion a couple of times! Hohaia could have played better at full back!

The main thing for me was the wingers ... the debutant nightingale wasnt great or perret, missed MANU hard! (hate to say it) No gas and no height, why they kept going for the high kick beats me!

Mannering good game and isac luke!

Re:Thoughts on the league test Reply to this message
Leuluai and Hohaia cannot be our halves combination ever again. No creativity, no kicking game no fluency. It was a waste of time bringing leuluai and webb as both had *** games. Couple of lapses in defense and thats all the ozzy'z needed to go in 20 nil at halftime and the game was over. Yes the Kiwi's did comeback better in the 2nd half but the game was already gone.

Personally I was disappointed as I think the Kiwi team was better than that and the players looked pretty disappointed in themselves after the game.

All in all...an improvement yes but still alot to work on because sheit man we wanna beat these guys not just lessen the score they beat us by.

Bring on the world cup!!

Re:Thoughts on the league test Reply to this message
Asotasi should try to concentrate on lifting his game and stop worrying about coaches. Chuck the buggar out and put in someone with a bit of fire and guts. He runs at the opposition like a girl. We need hard nuts, not political commentators.
